Alrighty am home to find the little cherry tomato I got because I thought they where supposed to stay small has become....this

I mean it's maxed out the grow light and honestly I think this is the most progress I've had with a tomato plant so what should I do here ? Trim it down ? Move it to pot outside ?
Looks really pretty healthy but it being an inside plant that been in a aquaponoics system for probably 70% of its life now seems like tossing it in soil might have some bad effects confused

Also is this a sign of deficiencies in certain elements or just leaves dieing just be its time ?

Also to the folks who said the mint might become a little bit of an issue.....yeaaaahhhh lil dude is definitely branching out lol

Why don't you grow them outside?

I see.

Sounds like a bucket outside with good ground in it would be the ticket for you. I use to grow them on the porch in buckets.

it looks what about 32-36 inches high

I would put it in a pot outside

I would also cut all the branches off the first 12-16 inches and plant it that deep in the pot , it has been growing reaching for your artificial light , but with shallow roots , getting it down a 12-16 inches will keep the roots it has in water and nutrients and allow it to grow many new roots from the stem and also make sure it has a better chance of not being damaged by the wind outside.

I would leave about 12 inches of leaves and branches at the top

I would take a couple sections of news paper and rip on the fold put the rip around the stem from one direction , repeat from the other direction then stab a cage down through the news paper

should stay a no weed operation , and if fruit fall they fall on the paper and don't have bugs eating them the second they hit.

that is what I would do you do whatever you like

I'm with Hippie. Tomatoes are meant to be outside. Save the indoor hydroponics for weed. LOL

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

When you plant it outside, instead of planting it deep, plant it at a nearly horizontal slant. It will produce more tomatoes that way than if planted deep.

I purchased two plant from a guy that said they would grow to the ceiling in his greenhouse. He had hooks to vine them around the top.

Cherry tomatoes are mostly indeterminate in growth. I've had cherry tomatoes grow over my roof reaching lengths of more than 24'.

I worked at a hydroponic tomato operation years ago. They went to the top of the greenhouse and would have kept going if they didn't keep topping them. They pruned and picked using scissor lifts. Hottest job I've ever worked at. Thermometer in the greenhouse was usually between 120-130 with sky high humidity. Thankfully after a couple weeks I was promoted to the air conditioned tomato sorting and packing area lol.

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

I use 10 foot rebar to tripod my sweet 100s they will grow to the top and drape back down

they should call them sweet 10000s for the number of little tomatoes you get

as Keith said indeterminate grow till they run out of room or frost kills them while determinate grow X many days set fruit and are done bearing fruit in a few weeks time

Move them to shade and water them. You can't move from indoors out to full sunlight without protection to give them time to acclimate.

Back when daily newspapers were a thing we would tent sheets of newspaper over transplants for a few days.

Got to water them Wolfy. I have 3 tomato plants in buckets. I also drill a hole on each side of bucket about 4" from the bottom, so excess water will drain off, but water at the bottom will wick up to the root.
