Never seen or ate one. I'm jealous.

Never seen or ate one. I'm jealous. To me they equal or surpass crappie in flavor. Mild, sweet and flaky. Somewhat delicate in how you handle it in cooking.

When I was a wee lad we rowed out about 400 yards off the beach on Whidbey Island and caught a whole boat full of flounder using clam strips for bait. They're very plentiful in the bays and estuaries on the Pacific coast.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Good Nite Swamp Wolf that looks fine . I would hurt myself on that. I had never had it gashed and fried almost whole like that. That white flaky meat came right off the bones....whew! Making my mouth water now just typing this!

that is a nice one I have only caught one and it wasn't big enough to keep
how did it cook up for you ?
Cap filleted him up and just fried em along with some other stuff we caught. Said if we had more time we would have stuffed it which now I really wanna do , shrimp and sausage jam stuffed flounder sounds amazing! ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/07/full-34110-263357-img_20250713_112321682.jpg)

Next time you hook another Wolfdog, try this. It's quick, easy, very tasty, and you can do it on a boat.
Take the flounder and scale the topside really good. You can cut the head off if you want, but it don' matter. Once its scaled good, then take a knife and cut if like the pic Swamp Wolf posted.
Then add lots and lots of butter, salt, pepper, garlic, and some lemon pepper. Wrap in foil, then cook on some charcoal, grill, or coals till done It don't take long. Its quick, easy, delicious, and a very good camp meal.

Anyone ever gig or spear fish for them. My cousin was down in Mississippi doing some in shore fishing in his small John boat. one of the evenings the game warden came down and talked with him asking questions ext. naturally he was a but defensive and asks the GW questions back and was surprised the GW was not being an jerk but infact looking out for him. Wanting to know where to go look for him when if he came back through later and his truck was still at the ramp after he was expecting to be back and warned him about bad conditions rolling in. AND Explaned currents' changing sea conditions and weather patterns effect that us flat corn field and farm pond people don't know or recognize.
They talked more .and The GW was telling him about spearing flounder. When my cousin looked dumbfounded and interested asking questions the GW looked at his watch then asked him how much longer he was going to ba at the ramp. The GW was almost off work and when he was he took and showed my cousin how how they do it down there. Sounds fun We aint all bad!

NOPE I have Meet some that are great, some that were OK and others that were pure trash. Every group and race has all kinds. Most people only like to pitch and complain. Very few are quick to compliment and say good job so the bad get all the talk or most of it.
