Does anyone believe it? On a lake I mean. Time has taught me to believe it. Last year was bad for crappie. And the next 8 days calls for wind...

An east wind usually comes with a strong front, and strong fronts will definitely affect fishing. So it has has some merit, IMHO.

I've seen it over and over again. As the old saying goes, when the wind's from the eaxt, the fish bite the least.
59 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Wind from the west, fish bite the best. Wind from the south opens a fish's mouth. Wind from the east, fish bite the least. And a wind from the north No need to go forth

Wind from NE or E, just stay home. SE can be ok. Strong NW after stable weather, stay home. Light NW give it a go. W, SW or S, better call in sick and go fishin'.

How about days with a variable wind? That's OK, assuming light and variable.

yep!!! East wind brings moisture in my area. Might be drops or 2 inches but it does bring moisture.

Less people fishing on those days equals less pressure I regularly limit out on walleyes on east winds. Quickly

Caught 14 walleye today in a stiff east wind below Grand Coulee dam! A bunch of starving walleyes just coming off the spawn and the wind doesn't bother the bite so much. They close the the walleye season here for 3 months around the spawn because they are more suseptible to over harvest. I think it's bull, but I didn't make the rules.

Bottom line - the best time to go fishing is when you can. Agreed! I’ve caught fish on East and North winds but not my favorite. Ya gotta fish when you can fish!

Dirty D, it might have been the noise. When I was a kid and the trains went by we caught fish and then they stopped biting right away. These weren't fancy fish, but to us they were all we had to fish for.....jk

This morning I fished a lake and 4 ponds. Nothing. But the water temp is only 52° so I just gotta be patient. The prairie chicken are booming and turkeys are gobbling so its close. Even saw a hen pheasant today. Thats rare. I seen in the paper that pheasants were introduced here 100 years ago. They flourished and now they are rare.

I have no idea if an east wind effects fishing. Never worried about it. Hunting with dogs, is totally different. Hunted rabbits with a friend, wind was a strong cold wind out of the east. I found 5 rabbits setting, that had to be kicked to move them. His beagles didn't find a rabbit that day.

East winds usually bring a front in. That absolutely affects fishing. Can you still catch em? Yes. Will you catch as many? Probably not. Spot on
