Might wanna remember the 3rd "S" and keep the killing part of a Federally protected song bird to yourself!

Neat looking bird....I know the bare basic birds...
You'd figure with all the old farts on here...staring out the windows..
Someone would know what that is....

Highly recommend the Merlin app to anyone interested in birds. You “listen” with you phone and it IDs the birds from their calls. You can save a list of birds you’ve captured with it. I have 134 species saved.

old saying,,,"when a cardinal appears, angels are near". was my moms favorite bird at the feeder. My favorite at the feeder too.
Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

The only yellow was on the breast. The head was black. Would that still be the bird you mentioned? If it was vivid yellow and not orange, there are no options really, it's a pretty unique bird. The amount of yellow is variable, females have less yellow, you can google it up. Its Latin name actually translates as "yellowhead yellowhead". Scott's oriole, maybe?
