Because they are only worth about 20 to 25 bucks. And I've got to skin them to get that.

Beavers are $75 each plus 55 cent per mile.

Two crossovers on a single dam about 15 feet apart guarded with 330s. Both otters are males. I'd bet there was a female otter very close. I had a third trap in channel about 40 yards upstream but no catch. Both of these males were headed that way....upstream.

They are definitely starting to think about the gals here judging by the spike in road kills I have started to see.

A few years ago you would have been glad to have them. Hope the market on them moves upwards soon.

Would have been a couple hundred bucks a few years back....and I would've been smiling even while fleshing them...lol

I've caught 5 in past few days. All males. All at crossovers.

I have been fleshing otters this evening and I must say that it has been a plesure compaired to past seasons. My dull, second hand Necker wasnt cutting it, so this year I up graded to a Lee Steinmeyer fleshing knife. Money well spent.

After fighting with that Necker this has been a breeze. I have been tasked to catch thirty for a freind to have a blanket made for his baby girl.

I hear ya. After fighting with a Necker for 4 years, my only regret is that I didn't throw it in the trash after the first coon. Love my Caribou!
