I was curious to if anyone would know what kind of coyotes I have around my area. I live in the north western area of Indiana and I don't know what to classify these coyotes. Eastern? Semi-heavy? Heavy? Thanks for the input, I am going to attach a picture of one of the coyotes I've trapped this year.

The biggest difference in western and eastern is color and the fact that the more eastern coyotes have a more coarse feeling hair and the westerns are more silky feeling fur.If you live where it gets cold your coyotes should be heavys when they are fully prime. As they prime up the fur gets thicker and thicker. It all depends at what point of primeness you catch a coyote how heavy it is.At least that is my understanding of it.

If you send that coyote to NAFA/FHA it would probably grade
eastern Heavy
Size XL-XXL
Color Dark
Clarity 3-4

Depending on timing $60-$75 Top end

Just my opinion judging from the picture/

Eastern for sure.
