Wondering if anyone can help out with a couple measurements? I am welding up some deep water stands for these two traps, and I forgot them at my other residence which is 6 hours north. I started them last time I was here, and just needed to finish up by welding the stubs that hold the trap. The trouble is, without the traps here, I can’t put the traps on the stand to mark where the stubs go.

I’m making the design with two horizontal rods welded to the uprights, so I just need the measurement from the top bar to the stubs for each trap. I would just guess at the measurement, but if they are too high then the bottom jaws won’t catch on the top horizontal, too low and the horizontal will be inside the trap... if you’ve ever made one, you know what I’m talking about.

Any one have a couple of H stands they could measure that distance with a Sauvageau 11x12 stand and an MB1216 stand?

Thanks for any help!

Not sure what you need. I made these, are these like yours?

Sort of, except mine only have one stub above the 2 horizontal bars, and that stub holds the trap up. When placed on my stand, the stub supports the trap right under the center where your top stub does, and the lower jaws are on either side of the top horizontal bar to keep trap from rotating. I assume your lower stubs keep the trap from rotating? Really, if I had the measurements taken on the traps themselves - from the point where your support stubs hit the bottom of the center of the traps to the lower jaw, that should get me close enough on my height.
Thanks!

On the 1216, I measured it at 5 7/8" from where the support tab would hit the jaw at the center rivet to the outside of the jaw. And yes, those lower tabs on my stands are to keep the trap from swinging on the stand. If you look close, there's pieces welded inside those lower tabs to take up room to help snug the trap on the stand. Same on the very top, there's pieces of rebar welded to take up the extra room between the jaws and help stabilize the 1216. Sorry I don't own any Savageau's.
