Recently there has been a lot of talk here about going to a mileage tax instead of a gas tax. Some pilot programs to test the idea are out there. Apparently the GPS devices they install on your car take in a lot more info then just how far you drive.

Endless ways to tax a guy today they either increase the taxes they have on the books or make up new ones it is never ending. If a guy sat down and figured the taxes he/she paid in a year it would be staggering!

That would also tax the non gas fueled vehicle users as well, which will continue to grow over time.

How long until they have the mileage tax for every one then say we are going to have a gas tax as well, then they will have both...Higher tax rate than now i'm afraid

Not sure if you read the article but also keeps track of every time you go over the speed limit and other infractions. Big Brother at work and your freedoms get slowly eroded.

I hope I'm not the only one at our state capital throwing a walleyed fit if this thing gains traction

So if we pay a per mile tax they will rescind the pay at the pump fuel tax? Ya.

Not as bad as I could be, not as good as I should be.

Reminds me of the movie Office Space....except collecting all of the fractional pennies is legal. In the end though, it adds up to big $$$

Thank Europe for giving them the idea. Road Tax Seems it is spreading like wild fire.

The GPS needs an alcohol sniffer and a camera to recognize driving while trappermanning. Also an automatic speeding ticket device. Most big government dummies parrot the phrase driving is a privilege, so enjoy your privilege or walk. Until they turn walking into a privilege and try sell you a license and tax you for that, too.

Nothing- it is the fact they are squandered, misappropriated and mandatory that makes them odious.

Are there any taxes that aren't mandatory. I would love a voluntary tax that others would pay. I quess tobacco taxes are voluntary.
