I can see no reason to do this. I've been using the MB 750 since it first came out.

Id post my finger but it's not pretty, almost lost the tip of my ring finger, my fingers do not fit under the jaws and I can't find a safe way to set this great trap the only down side is the locked jaw... And before someone says buy two coil T-85s I have the 750s and plan on removing the tab from the latch side, all traps need mods, I trap alone in remote areas and safety is a big concern

I can see no reason to do this. I've been using the MB 750 since it first came out. I agree! Same here. It's a simple and safe matter to step on the spring levers and then pull the pan up with a crooked stick. You never have to put your fingers in the zone.

I set from the top in the zone all the time with confidence, and can still get a finger in from the bottom to fine out the trigger.
Of course, I am quite spectacular, if I do say so myself.

My old MB750s are all pre night latch models. The night latch is there so you can set it blindfolded in the dark.

If you remove the tab, the jaw will not lay flat. Same with the 650.
Just doing what I want now.

What about using a OneHandSetters by Dave Sheldon davidfsheldonjr@gmail.com I use these. Awesome. I never been bit by a 750 but wouldn't want to be. I managed to get bit by the 750. The worst part was pulling my lower drowner stake so I could reset my trap!!

My old MB750s are all pre night latch models. The night latch is there so you can set it blindfolded in the dark. Or an old man can set them in the daytime. I agree,I can't think of a practical way to keep the "loose" jaw down and also can't over-recommend the One Hand Setters. They not only are a great asset in the field but are a big plus when working on traps.I was just working over some cast jaw,MB650's to take the sharp edge off the jaws with a file. The One Hand Setters can't be beat for holding the jaws open while doing this type work. Buy the One Hand Setters. They are one of those tools that the first time you use them, you realize that you should have done it long ago.
