Well, last week I wound up with all the symptoms of Lymes, Erlichiosis, or some other tick-borne illness du jour. Went into the Doc, took the tests, and got a 21 day prescription of Doxy. Today, just after finally getting my Lymes and Erlichiosis tests back....negative...I looked at the local paper and saw that a woman from La Crosse was the first in the State to die from Rock Mountain Spotted Fever. Called the Doc and got the old line that the tests are not completely trustworthy and that I should stay on the Doxy till it's gone. Was told they don't even test for RMSF up here and even if they did, my treatment would be the same.

I was one miserable s.o.b. this weekend. One night we had the house at 73 degrees and I had such chills I was in a heavy hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, wool socks, and under a quilt but I was shivering, covered in goosebumps with my teeth chattering. Starting to feel better but am fatigued and weak.

Whatever this is, I can hardly wait till it's gone.

Moosetrot, I do believe I picked up Lyme's last summer at the D5 event there on Brice Prairie. Stay with the doxy. It took me 5 weeks to start feeling better.

There was an article a few months back where active Lyme's was found even after 30 days of doxy. Lyme's getting resistant? Our ability to detect better? Not good either way.

You're in my prayers MT.

Muskrat-

Just heard from someone else that was at the D5 Rendezvous last year that came down with it as well. Lyme tests came back negative but his Doc put him on Doxy. For those of you that don't know, the site of the D5 Rondy last year was a stone's throw from my back yard.

Not sure what's worse for the Prairie...Yuppies or ticks that are trying to kill us.

Got RMSF a few years back, man I got sick on that one. Tick I believe that cause it hit me right in the center of the back and left a red looking ring around the bite. Had to pop them horse pills for a year. Still not sure if I'm over it till this day.
