Good to hear he will be okay. I would probably be afraid to take him along again.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Aussies are tough for sure. I have an 8 year aussie mix with fox terrier. She took a hit on the nose(copperhead) when she was 3 and after treatment she was fine the next day. I hired a couple of helpers and broke out the bush hog and pushed back the woods so to speak. No problems since.
Give him a special treat and spoil him. He has earned it. Sarge

Lotta heart. Sounds like a great dog. Glad he pulled through.
Bird doggers use an e-collar and a snake with its venom sacs removed. Better a couple of real high stims than a bite.

My lab goes everywhere with me till I got in a swamp where the cottonmouths are to thick. I don't want her bit. You get closer to a working dog than just a pet. Good luck with yours. Your right they become like a partner riding ever day with you. Trapping in the deep south with a dog you about know he going to get bit it just a matter of when. Rattle snakes are real bad around here also. Darn country down here is just cover in them critters. I like to have gotten bite by a copperhead pulling a weed up next to a flower in the back yard a while back. But he riding with me again today, he wide open right now.
