A good friend of mine is an absolute coyote slayer when predator calling. He usually uses a rifle but told me that most of what he calls comes in to shotgun range but he takes the rifle in case they hang up. Well I've been invited to tag along and I told him that I'd bring my turkey gun along but have no clue which shells to bring.... turkey shells? Buckshot? He usually targets yotes but an occasional fox is a good possibility. Looking for opinions on a good load that is as fur friendly as possible but will also get the job done. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Smaller buck shot like 4B and no on the turkey choke, turkey gun is fine but a modified or improved choke will often pattern better than full and much better than extra full. At least that is my experience with an 870. I think the tighter chokes over compress the large shot.

Hornaday coyote BB nickle plated.

Check different chokes in your gun to see which patterns best. After using a full choke for awhile I found my Win. with a modified choke shoots better.

These things will knock a yote upside down really well.

Magnum lead BB's are a pretty good load.

Mine was modified to a predator or turkey gun, Bansners suggested to use federal #2

This!...I have a Mark Bansner turkey choke on a 12 ga Benelli M1 Super 90 that patterns #2's through #4 buck like a house on fire...#2's are the ticket for thickly furred winter furbearers.

If mostly coyotes on the menu, # 4 buck is the best choice.
LEAD BB is a good compromise if fox are a possibility.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Pattern test any loads you plan on using ,I tested several brands of coyote loads and every gun I tested gave different results with brand of ammo just because someone says a brand works for them doesn't mean your gun will like it, by the way mine liked no 2 federals I think, it wouldn't shoot Hornady for anything. Good luck and have fun testing.
And I also found to not choke it down worked better for my gun.

I like 3" lead F or #4 buck. both are fur friendly and will easily kill a yote and not totally destroy a fox.

I like #4 Buckshot through my Rem 870. Killed a shotgun double with that load a couple weeks ago. Male shot at 20 yrds and female shot on the run at 65 yds. Very effective with my dead coyote choke tube. I have been shooting 3" Remington ammo.

I would think this would be ideal if you have a 10 gauge. Otherwise I think #4 buck would be good in a 12 just not as many pellets.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

I have used them in both my ithaca mag 10 and my browning pump and they flat out kill! Great for coyotes but just a little overkill on fox inside 50 yards!
