Thanks for looking!

My wife weaves as a hobby and recently finished a trapping basket for a friend that is a bit larger than she typically weaves. The standard harnesses she buys (the size large) is a little too small. I figured I would make one but I having a hard time fing the pieces and parts....I'm looking for a source for 1.5 inch wide red heavy duty cotton webbing (if I found natural, I could dye it) and the metal hardware (not sure what the parts, other than the rivets, are called). Below is a picture of a small harness showing the parts as well as a few picts of some baskets in action. I'm always amazed how strong they are...I load them up with 330's, etc. and lug back some very heavy beavers and other crritters. She also makes basket quivers.

Thanks in advance for any leads!

Dino

those are cool.
has she considered using just standard casual men's strap belts for the strap material? I see these in clothing stores all the time, sometimes on clearance rack for deep discounts. they are sometimes sold as set with a pair of jeans or shorts. Looks to be about right width and material you describe anyway.
could be a possible source for straps for her projects.
I love those pack baskets, would she consider making and selling one?
Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Thanks! Using a cotton webbing belt sounds good except the sections of the harness that go around your shoulders are too long...much longer than the belt.

Regarding selling the trapping baskets, it’s one of those things that the amount of labor that goes into them makes it hard to sell at a reasonable price. ...but I can ask. The quivers are a bit less time consuming...in addition to making quivers for family, she makes them for door prizes, etc at the various sporting clubs we belong to. She had made a kids size trap basket for a door prize a few years back at one of our state trapping rendezvous.

Thanks,
Dino

Since most of it is made over seas, searching for 38mm will yield more results. I found this on eBay, they also had the buckles and such.
