I hated to see this old behemoth die, but I was grateful that I was the one to get the job. It was a beautiful white oak that was next to a local church, and they had records of the church being held under the tree 150 years earlier before the church was built. I've saw taller in this area but in my 18 years in the tree industry its the biggest all around tree I've saw. I have a 65 ft bucket truck and still had to climb a couple leads of it. 88 inches across the stump. Counted 380+ rings with some of the heart rotted put I know it was over 400 year old

I wish I'd took some good before pics of the tree standing, the pics of the bucket and me climbing are not the same tree

That's a nice pic with the hills in the background and you in the tree.

Cool tree, glad you got to put her down. If you are interested in a hitch climber set up with a micro pulley hit me up, you would love to ditch that blakes hitch (looks like a blakes atleast from pics)

We did this one awhile back but thought some of you guys would enjoy it, after seeing the posts from other tree guys. I didn't even think to take pics til I had it on the ground. Its very uncommon to see trees this old in my area

Pretty cool. I always like to think and point out to the kids that when those started growing it was only Indians around and at least around here there were still bear and elk.

I did the job for Cold Springs Presbyterian Church in Bristol Tenn, if you like to call them Jurassic. I own Shell's Tree Service. Have no reason to Photoshop, or do I know how

That’s a whopper, RM.
I used to race gokarts down that way when I was a kid. We raced a good bit at a place called Dumplin Valley Raceway in Kodak, Tenn.

That's a lot of board feet of good hard wood there! Get someone with a sawmill to slice a few slabs to sell. You could probably make a enough for a new truck!
