I thought I'd share my coon cubby set up with you folks. Its pretty basic, no digging involved so I like to use it.

This is the basic set up. I just pound the dirt down a little to get the trap bedded in there. (I believe the pipe is 10" in diameter and a little less than 2 feet long).

This is the back of the set. I just throw some sticks across to keep them from sneaking in the back. Sometimes I also bed it up against a tree.

The finished set. Trap covered up with leaves and Jack Mackerel for bait.

Results (Not the same exact set, but you get the point).

Cool! Nice set!

Do you spose, after the coons get caught, they just jump in the pipe and roll around for fun?

they probably don't fight the trap as much cause they are hidden in the pipe eh?

I survived the death clutch of Boss Hog, and am now here for my 3rd tour of duty on Tman

Nice catch. I wouldn't use a #2 however. It will take too high a hold and cause some problems. I'm surprised your trap isn't getting clogged up when it fires using that many leaves over the trap. Just my opinion.

I use a set like that except mine it short peices or tile. Do you buy the PVC or have a place you get it for free because I would think that big of PVC would cost a small fortune.

I usually use Duke 1.5's just found that trap in my garage and decided to give it a whirl (it's not nearly as strong as the 1.5's). It looks like a lot of leaves but its really just a thin layer with 1 big leaf over the pan. And I found the PVC in a construction dump site on my property.

i dont think hes worried about it being to strong but them chewing anyways nice set and i use leaves alot also just not alot one big one does the trick

i also would think that them hiding in there might cut down on chewing and fightin the trap

what you do today you got to sleep with tonight

real nice set, those coons are too curious to pass up a big round tube of pvc, do you stake trap or use those logs for drags?

one thing i want to add....id put the dog facing inside the hole...cause if he steps on the dog and the pan...when the trap goes off the dog will fling his footout of the trap...other wise it looks pretty slick...i like how thatt coon thinks hes hid

netrapper: Thank you. I stake the trap.
waterfordcooner: I never thought of that. Thanks for the input I'll have to turn them around from now on.
