Whenever you are trapping or hunting,be sure to keep your cool and document any threats to yourself your your legal pursuits. If you are being harassed and you have a cell phone or Camera handy, take pictures or call DNR to come out and support you. Such reports will help to protect you in your legal pursuit of hunting and trapping and will provide valuable info that will help the law to enforce the anti harassment laws on folks such as this.

Jason Miller, a Lenexa animal-rights activist, pleaded guilty today to
violating a protection-from-stalking order and was placed on a year’s
probation.

Miller organized several demonstrations against the efforts of the
Johnson County Park and Recreation District to shoot more than 300
deer in Shawnee Mission Park.

Michael Meadors, the district’s director, filed a petition Oct. 30 for
the protection order.

In that complaint, Meadors stated that Miller’s web site —
BiteclubKC.com — advocated violence in certain circumstances to end
the violence against animals.

“He has sent a severed deer head to me at my work in a basket,” Meadors wrote.

In other demonstrations, Miller poured cow’s blood over his head and
attempted to block the park entrance.

A Johnson County judge issued the protective order Nov. 18 in which
Miller was prohibited from having direct or indirect contact with
Meadors or the members of the district’s board.

On Feb. 13, Miller sent an e-mail to the park district that violated that order.

Johnson County District Court Judge Thomas Bornholdt asked Miller if
he had anything to say before sentencing.

“My actions were taken in defense of the defenseless deer in Shawnee
Mission Park,” Miller told the judge.

As a condition of his probation, Miller cannot have any direct or
indirect contact with Meadors, the park district board and 11 other
members of the park district staff.

It's a slap on the proverbial wrist, but it's a start. I would've went to jail because I'd have pummeled him.

So basicaly the judge ordered him to the same thing that the anti stalking order did in the first place. Humm why doesn't this make me feel safer.

Glad to see you are back Mira, but I think this just shows the judicial system for what it is "failed" Its like putting a restraining order on a man that just beat the crap out of his girlfriend untill their court date. Well daaaaa he is going to go kick her @#()#$*$& so she will not testify regardless of the nice neat piece of paper that wonderful order is written on.

This makes me as a native Missourian feel bad. How can we be so ignorant and bash something that we have done more millions of years and something we all love. Why do animal rights activists have to be so arrogant and ignorant?

That whole deer herd reduction was a joke. The city paid over 50 grand to train two officers to use silenced night vision scoped rifles to thin the herd down and to pay for the processing of the deer for the homeless. My brother-in-laws archery club bid it for free. Even though they thinned the herd down they left 100 breeders, won't be long until they have to do it again!

The courts and the politicians are so busy being politically correct to idiots such as the Animal Rights & earth 1st folks that they have made a mess out of every aspect of politics and the judicial system.

How does anyone with half a brain read about this stuff and think, gee there's someone who's trying to do the right/correct thing?

unfortunately a lot of our civic leaders today have never been near blood in large amounts and are appalled at the site of it unless it is at a horror movies like the scream series. This trick sells among the politicians and our judicial leaders today. They always equate blood with cruelty. They can not help themselves even though the animal which died could have died instantly. Loons like Miller count on that factor.

Somebody should have assumed that the cow blood was from him and that he was wounded and finished him off.

Bottom line is we must maintain our cool when confronted by such loons. Laugh at them and catalogue their verbal abuse or threats and if possible tape or video them and report them to DNR.. Build a case and take them down in court. The DNR will dop the dirty work for you if you handle it well . Be sure to get license plate numbers if possible. We might not like the dlap on the wriat but Miller has had one freebie used uip already. Next one could be a felony. Be smart folks. Keep records & do not be provoked into doing sopmething stupid. The courts work on two wrongs don't make a right rules ,so it is up to you to make sure they are in the wrong.

FYI- Johnson Co Kansas may be the most wealthy and liberal leaning population in the whole state- it is a 'burb' or KC. If there is an active PETA chapter- thats where it would be.
If that type of crap isn't put up with there- it probably won't even be attempted by there rest of the anti's anywhere else.

I have to wonder what would have wised Miller up so there hadn't been a second offence???? This is his second slap on the wrist and now folks are waiting to see if there will be a third offence.

Like i said in the other thread...the laws are tieing our hands. BUT i'd have been in jail as well.

Although this guy is totally nuts, Leftlane is right. I live an hour from this guy, and Johnson County (where this is) is the most left-leaning part of the state, and does not speak for the rest of Kansas. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me. I tell most Johnson Co. folks to go back to Maryland.
