After two weeks of fishing for halibut, rockfish, lingcod, sockeyes, grayling and trout, the work has piled up and its back to reality! I do have a few thoughts about AK. being as it was my first time. 1, What a beautiful, breathtaking place it is 2,I never met an unfriendly person out there!3, Its a very expensive place to live (4.92 for gas i paid) 4,(my biggest observation!)The government is screwing Alaska up, just like everywhere else! the fisheries dept. has screwed up the king salmon fishing so bad that it is almost non existant, when i was there, the whole state nearly was shut down for kings on the recreational side, but commercial fishermen where still catching 100s of thousands of bycatch kings and throwing them back .......dead! great management practice!.... but Alaska is a great place to visit and I will surely make it back again! more pics to come when I get time!

Welcome back! Looks like you had a great time.

While you were gone I was relocating all my squirrels to RI. Hope it helps you out a little... wink

btw, I wish they wouldn't waste all that bycatch.

Great catch. What port did you sail from?

The situation up there, as in down here, is NMFS fault. Magnusen-Stevens is totally out of date, all the data is flawed, and Lubchenko the commie femal dog is in charge.

But all is well in "Obamadontcare" land.

we fished about 60 miles out of seward on a 6pack boat,it was me and my buddy and a family of four. Out of the four in the family, three got so sick they didnt fish so one of the boys,my friend pete and I did all the fishing (lucky us!) that halibut was 62 lbs there were much bigger ones caught that day on other boats.I think the biggest was 135

that fish was a ling cod. they're supposed to be great eating ,but unfortunately when I caught that one it was two weeks before the season started for them.
