One of my favorite calls-stuck behind a clothes dryer.

They're slowing down some how, so I doubt I'l get any more calls until spring. Kind of sad about that...

(Southern Pacific Rattlesnake for those wondering)

You can have them, I don't mind snakes. It's the venom that I dislike

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

I'm not a fan of venom either, but do I have a lot of respect for a critter that can hold its own the way they can. Thought others would be interested, don't most ADC folks do snake removal? If so, I'd love to see what's going on in other parts of the country. If not, ah well...that's OK too.

They quit posting due to potential clients learning how to fix their own problems (due to sharing too much)?

Competition learned too much from their sharing?

Did you mean something else?

By the way, cool snake.

I don't deal with snakes. If potential clients and competition can't find the info they need to take care of their own Wildlife issues or do a job here, they'll just go down a different avenue on the net. Isn't hard these days with google at their disposal.

Oh no.....everyone shares info. This is a great industry for that. Everyone moved to a board that wasn't public for a variety of other reasons.

Too bad,so sad. I don't think the forum is going anywhere anytime soon in their absence. This forum is anything but short of personalities, and acquires some of the best darn google experts I've seen in a long time.

I hear you but it's not that vital to me. Fortunately I have other places I can go if I run into an issue with my ADC line and had questions that couldn't be answered here. I kiss no arse to run with an online group, click, Wildlife crew whatever you want to call it. At the end of the day we deal with animals and sometimes we have to think like animals in what and why they're doing things. When it comes down to information on the target animals I've noticed a lot go for the catch-all universal baits and Universal methods, a lot don't set for that particular animal anymore so information wise most seem to be looking for the quick buck verses understanding the animal to benefit themselves on future calls and it's not just on this forum. I'm part of a few forums and I see it all over. I'm fortunate enough to live close to a few adc guys who been in the biz for quite a while and very knowledgeable in this industry. Whenever I have issues and I do have issues at times, I consult with them, they shoot me their ideas and what they would do. I try them out sometimes they work sometimes they don't sometimes you got to think for yourself. Life goes on, many have come and "gone" but manage to come back under new handles. It's like a bad carb, you can leave it for a while, but always manages to find its way back in.

You asked to learn about snakes...and much of the talent has left long ago. There are HUGE operatoons that manage snake calls....they just aren't here. PM winkie...he will fill ya'all in.

Not at all. You used the forum as it was intended for. Posted a nice action shot of what you do. Some folks can't except change or the fact that there are other ideas out there besides their own. Small issue, others will fill the void and bring something else to the table.

My curiosity was about what other species people get calls for, who aren't in my part of the country.

DezertTrapper,
The two most common rattlesnakes in the southeast corner of Alabama are the Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus adamanteus)and the Timber rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus). We also have one of the pigmy rattlesnakes (Sistrurus miliarius). They are very rare around here; I have never even seen one.

Note to self- Engage brain before opening mouth (or hitting the ENTER key/SUBMIT button).

GO TO THE NWCOA EXPO in New Orleans....get connected.

"This presentation will provide an exact script to sell snake services, how to avoid call backs, how to up-sell obvious seal ups against entry and food sources ( rats, mice, bats, birds).

Michael will also cover why repellents fail and how to sell on that failure, basic snake biology and specifics on snakes Jacobson's organ.

Michael is a past presenter at EXPO's and instructor for both BOTC/AOTC."

Whoa...you can mix these species? A couple of ours wouldn't stand for that-heck, they can't even stand each other unless it's breeding season or its time for hibernation. I've seen a Eastern DB only once, when living at Fort Benning, and it wasn't exactly a small snake. Thanks for sharing!

I've been considering it...but from where I live (California) that's a lot of money, and a lot of the critters I trap are slowing down for the season. And yes, repellents are a joke. I see folks new to the desert spending big bucks on those...I have a pic somewhere a buddy took-a big ole plastic jug of snake repellent, and a rattlesnake curled up next to it sleeping in the corner of a shed. :-)
