A milkjug full of water is hard to beat.
Another option is a 2.5" round body grip trap.

Peanuts and peanutbutter on a rat trap. Put it in. Weasel box or you'll get birds too. Or just under something where birds won't go
Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!
If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

AJE, how does the milkjug with water work? Find the chipmunks hole in the ground. Fill a milk jug with water. Pour the water down the hole. The plan would be that the chipmunk or striped gopher would try to get out of it's ground hole to avoid drowning. It literally comes popping out of the hole so quick, going into the empty milk jug. Then put the cap on the milk jug.

Dezerttrapper thank you for your suggestion, time for something different. The people have no children and have two dogs which they treat as if there children. Any trap other than a live trap is out, period. a Weasel type Box with a little zero or no#1 in it is what I use but not on this job. Found a fellow jackets nest while inspecting and I couldn't even put seven dust on it, so will give the cracked corn a try and hole corn which I have plenty of and a small box of raisins thats a new one on me, but makes sense. Thank you Thanks for the replies acorns so thick you could use a shovel to scoop them up. You're most welcome. I don't know what it is about raisins, but sometimes--whoa! Works more often than it doesn't/ Sometimes fresh grapes do too. I like using them out here because they don't dehydrate too fast. Sometimes they want that moisture and a grape is a perfect, sweet little package of moisture. I squish a few and leave the rest whole. I've also had them go after cheap, greasy dried dog food in occasion. Weird little critters they are, good luck!
