Alright I'm not trying to sound like a complete idiot or anything but, I've been smoking for almost 6 years. I'm to young to be like this. I'm 18 I started smoking when I was about 12. Chewing when I was 10 and its been atleast a pack a day since then. I wanna stop smoking and go to chewing.hey better to have no lips than no lungs. And eventually quit chewing. I can't walk up steps without running outta breath and being a kid there's parties, smoke up to 4 packs in a night. But can I get some ideas on how to quit and go to chew? Cause I go to school and don't really have time to have a chew before school. Can usually sneak it in during class though. Thanks.

Did your folks know you were smoking at such an early age?

Be careful sneaking a smoke during school..my neighbors kid just got a 3 day vacation for dipping during class.

Yes my mom knew the whole time my dad found out about a year ago, I'm a very heavy set guy so I can hide my dip but I rarely go out for a smoke

Dude, not to sound harsh BUT...If you are so heavy and out of shape that at 18 you are out of breath going up a flight of steps, You need EXERCISE! Yes, smoking is bad for you but with the way you are going, you will be dead long before lung cancer will get you. You can't blame your shortness of breath strictly on the smokes. I've smoked over a pack a day for over 35 years. I play full court basketball for an hour, Two days a week. YES, you should quit smoking but you also need to start exercising and watching your weight.

You could try the E-cigs carried at 7/11. They have nicotine, but they do not damage your lungs. And I agree with the others. Get off your fat A-SS

But it's not my weight by "heavy set" I didn't mean I'm over weight I'm 6'4" and 235 lbs... I've actually lost weight over the years and before I used to be around 5-8 and 250 now I've grown into my body a lot and yeah ik some of its because of my weight and all and I'm slowly losing weight and as of yesterday I'm quitting. Haven't had a cig since 8:00 yesterday morning. I have been offly crabby but ill be good! I've heard that the three day hump get over the first three days and your good!

And I'm not necessarily out of shape I wrestle varsity, I ride bulls and all that fun stuff. But by no means outta shape. When I said couldn't do a set of stairs I meant as I can't do it as a used too. Which was one reason I'm worried and wanna quit.

I still say you are WAY out of shape. You need to quit smoking but ALSO need to start exercising! There is NO WAY that an 18 yr old should be out of breath going up a flight of steps. Like I said earlier, I have smoked for 35 yrs and still able to play basketball 2 nights a week to stay in shape.

You want to quit smoking....then just quit, that's all there is to it. No gimmicks. You have to want to quit and just do it. It might help to start an excerise program at the same time.

I started smoking at 14 and quit at 21, at which point I was smoking 50 reds a day. And then I quit. I took up dip at some point and then a number of years later quit that the same way. The first 24 hours is the hardest. You can give up anything for 24 hours, right?

Now having been tobacco free for years, I do not miss cigarettes at all. I do sometimes miss dip, but so far not enough to start back, and I don't dwell on it. I also don't want to set a bad example for my young boys. My dad always told me not to use tobbacco, but he did himself.

This actually a kind of funny story looking back. My dad was in Lawerance helping a friend of his over the summer paint dorms. A couple days in he begins to feel tired and fatiged. So he just thinks it all the work. Finally he goes to a walkin medical place and they run a eco on him. Turns out he had been having minor heart attacks for years. They wanted to call an ambulance to take him to Topeka but he decided to drive back himself. He got his friend and drove back here and checked into the ER. On the way down he quite smoking. He declined quickly over the course of about a week. My mother actually sat me and my sister down and told you he might die. For what ever reason the decision was made to move him to St. Luke's in Kansas City which had a cardicac building. Once he was there he instantly began to get better over the next week or two. It has been determined that he function on 12% of his heart. But he has recovered as fully as possible. H e certainly can not walk as far, work as hard, or lift as much as he use to. He is now disabled and stays at home. He was 50 when this happened and is now 52.

For my second reply, I had a co-worker that smoked all of her life, then one day started coughing, then coughing up blood, weeks later dead. For me life is short enough, and want every minute i am given, for what some say it's a simple pleasure, which is now quite expensive, is not worth dieing for.

I smoked 2-3 packs a day for twenty years. Then I had my bad accident and I've been smoke free for almost 4 years(in july). I can assure you that unless YOU WANT to QUIT you will fail. You have to want it before it 's possible. I've found that smoking is nothing but a HABIT. I still find myself reaching into my shirt pocket to get a cig. If you can find something to take your mind off of them you will have a better chance.

I've been smoking a pack a day for over a decade, I'm getting tired of it, Jim Beam on the other hand I don't think so

my grandad (fathers father) is 87 and smokes 3 packs a day.
has for years... my father smoked for about 2 months and
just up and quit... dad has really bad breathing problems,
grandad doesn't...

i don't think its just the smoking that causes the problems,
but i am trying to quit myself...

guess what i am saying is each one has different issues, and
smoking is not necessarily what causes problems... but it sure
ain't helping either.

and boots, supposed to be pearl in a can and jack daniels black,
not beam... LOL
