Asking for Gun Input

I want to get a very small pistol sometime in the near future. I want a gun that is slick (wooden grips not rubber) and small enough to slip in and out of my pocket without any trouble at all. I'm in the researching stage right now, as I am still undecided. If anyone owns either of the guns that I am looking at, I'd like to hear anything good or bad, but especially bad about it. If anyone has the Snake Slayer, do you find it too bulky to slip in and out of your pockets like the sidewinder, or do you only carry it on your person using a holster of some sort?

The 2 guns I am looking at right now are the Bond Arms Snake Slayer and the NAA Sidewinder mini revolver in 22 WMR. If anyone has any other brands of derringers that are very small but are quality products, I'd like to hear about them. That Snake Slayer in 410/45 LC packs one heck of a punch, and I can see where it would have all sorts of uses, but the mini revolver has 5 shots, and it's tiny.

Check out the new mini Glock Model 42, I know when you think of a "block" you think big and fat but these are a smaller slender (single stack) .380 and NOTHING bulky like it's big brothers are.

small is very relative, the guns you have posted so far ar more like micro , I assume your looking for a snake gun

I carry a LC9 most all the time usually in a pocket

I would be looking at 38spl revolvers , charter undercover , s&w m36 and such as a snake gun

I recently picked up a sort of clone of a colt detective special , i got it in a 4inch barrel but they make it in a snub nose with wooden grips the price was good it is made by Rock Island Armory the people who are well known for their good 1911's they call them M200 and M206 for the snub nose they hold 6 rounds 38 special you could load 3 snake shot and 3 regular rounds for not snake needs

Top one carries about like a brick. HEAVY.

Bottom one is much lighter.
I carry similar to the NAA sidewinder...the NAA Black Widow. IMO...the advantage is the longer barrel (makes a HUGE difference ballistically) and much better adjustable sights. Grips can be swapped back and forth...so the wood will fit the rubber and vice/versa.
IME...you will find the rubber style to be far superior in shooting, handling and operation.
I also prefer the Black Widow as I can swap the cylinder to a 22LR one....for cheap practice.

Despite the poo pooing you'll hear by the "big gun" fans.....the NAAs show excellent build quality and materials and are very accurate (1" groups at 7 yards with the BW..and yes...I have video proof...LOL).

I carry the 22 mag widow as a backup in a front pocket design holster I designed and make. Don't even know it is there....until you need it. You can wear a NAA in shorts...the Bond will pull your pants off without a belt...LOL.

I have the same thought as on a pocket gun like the ones you put the pics up of. Go Handel one of the side winders you will change ur mind quick, I fooled with one for a little while n a gun store an there a pain to get the cylinder in an out it has to be lined up just right an feels like you could break it off easly it's much faster to load an unload the kind that TLC has also it seams more robust. Just my input.

A lot of them smaller guns have horrendous trigger pulls so check them out first! Some are better for protection by throwing them.

Get a kel-tec 380 or if you want a little bigger get the 9 and both are super light and have shot a couple hundred rounds through both with no jams.

I guess I should have explained myself a little bit better... It's not for snakes primarily, but I could definitely use it for that if I needed. I'm wanting a tiny pistol. I guess micro would be an accurate description as someone pointed out. I already have a LCP. It's small and handy, I carry it often. I just want a micro for several reasons. I guess I shouldn't group the snake slayer and mini revolver together. While the S.S. is small, it weighs a pound and a half unloaded.

I've always wanted something like the snake slayer, hopefully one day ill get one. For this time though, I think I'll need to go with a mini revolver, and just go from there. I'd read about the larger grips and better handling, but I thought it'd make it kind of big for what I wanted. Seeing a photo of it in a hand has changed my mind. That sure is a nice looking little pistol. I've been browsing NAA's website, and there's quite a few. I handled a sidewinder at a local gunshop, but that was the only one in stock. Im going to want to try out one of the widows or the pug. Is NAA pretty much the only company that makes a mini revolver that y'all are familiar with?

The slightly longer barrel of the Widow give it a HUGE jump in performance. You will NOT notice any difference in carrying it over the shorter ones such as the pug.

I own a NAA mini .22 mag with the foldable black handle. 1 5/8ths barrel. I own two other revolvers that are difficult to holster and conceal but carry more firepower. They sit at home or in my truck center console. The mini .22 is always in my front pocket and I hardly even know it is there!

I agree that in this case the extra barrel length won't make it harder to carry, and it should improve the velocities. What makes it still work in my case is that they're the same width. What is it, 7/8 of an inch?

For this gun, I want something that people won't notice--at all-- if its in my pocket. My LCP is small, but it's not micro small. On top of being the size I need, I just flat out think its a neat little gun. From what I've read, it seems owners like them.

I told my wife about it, showed her the picture, and told her I'm gonna get one. She thought it was neat too, but gave me the ole "why are you talking about buying another gun, you just bought one" talk. So I pulled the ole "yeah, of course. I wasn't talking about buying it today, just 'one day', ya know".

I'm gonna get one of those little suckers alright, just might have to get her something too LOl

I've got the Snake Slayer and really like it. It'll turn a snake to dust and guts (from experience). I use the holster Bond Arms sells and a hi rise hip holster depending on if it's a day in the field or a quiet night out. Carried it all day fixing fence and don't ever notice it. You can get a whole slew of different caliber barrels for it and they change out quick and easy.

I have wanted a snake slayer for quite some time. I know it'd be a handy little thing. Do you have the shorter one or the longer barreled one? I know what the msrp is, but what'd you have to give for it? Guns are usually much cheaper than the msrp, around here at least

Bought it like new on gunbroker a few years ago for around $300, I think. It's the long barrel.

What's the pattern like with a 410? In a judge, the pellets have the entire barrel, but in the snake slayer, a whole lot of the barrel goes to holding the cartridge. I know that if the rifling gets a good grip, it'll spread them like crazy.

With your slayer, have you noticed that it really, really spreads them right away, or is it a little easier on spreading them since they aren't on the rifling much.

Never used it for hunting so I never actually patterned it It'll shread a beer can at 10'. It expands pretty quick with 6 shot.

I have the bond arms 45 long colt and it shoots the critical defense 410 triple slug and two 35cal balls really well. Made by Hornady box of 20 for $14.80

Sure would like to get one of those mini revolvers. I think I’m going to stop by my local gun shop and request a NAA Black Widow. I just want to look at it more.....

I bought the 22mag./22lr. convertible with the plastic swinging grip/holster, 1 5/8" bbl. I like the gun, hated the grip/holster. went and ordered the fake smaller stage horn grips, better, but still didn't feel right. ordered the oversized rose wood grips. MUCH better! Don't notice in my pocket, easy to grab & draw with the wood grips and most time it stays orientated like it is suppose to. Best grouping I can do is about 2 1/2" to 3" at 5 yds. with the mags., lrs. seem to group a bit bigger, don't know, but it might be my 60yr. old eyes and cataracts .LOL Tis a pain to reload, but can also carry the other cyl. if ya wanted. Fun little gun & it WILL disappear in a pocket!

There were a half dozen others that were in line ahead of this one. Now that those cravings have been satisfied, it’s now time to scratch a new itch between a mini revolver and a Witness Protection type shotgun like the Mossberg Shockwave. I’m leaning towards the NAA, because they’re just plain cool. If they didn’t have a reputation for accuracy, I seriously doubt I’d be giving them a second thought, but.... I’ve read and heard Time and again that they’re (Black widow) fun to shoot and easy to hit small targets with. They have a longer barrel, larger grip, adjustable sights, and they’re a SAO.

I’m getting one. Just a matter of getting it this week or waiting another 4 years. White, you know these things take time Baw! Priorities!

I think a clip on gun is a neat idea, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how a folding handle one would be something a person could reliably draw quickly. It seems that it would probably take two hands to do it quickly, but there’s a good chance that I could be wrong

Hopefully you are using a holster for pocket carrying a loaded handgun.

I don't know how many times I'v carried a loaded handgun in a pocket...I problably should have kept that too myself, lol.

local cop shot himself in the leg re holstering a pistol at the fop range recently...did not hit any artery.

I inherited a five shot S&W 38 revolver with wooden grips. Very small. I can hit a big target within 10 feet with its two inch barrel.
