Socialism or Discrimination ?? - 01/13/18 02:59 AM

So wife went down and got the mail today. There were two official looking envelopes, one dressed to her, and one dressed to me. When she got home we opened them up. It was like Christmas all over again!! The envelopes contained government issued checks!! At first I thought it was a case of mistaken identity. Im not on the government dole, and neither is she. We do both volunteer for our local EMS, we get paid a whopping $3.50 for that gig, but those checks are direct deposited into our account.

Upon further investigation we realized what the checks were for........and I'm dead serious. The checks were for us driving ourselves into Whitehorse, which is 75 miles from our home. We had had this same thing happen 30-years ago but we had gone in and told them to take our name off that list. The lady looked at me like I had four eyes when I told her I didn't need government money to drive myself to town......she just didn't seem to get the fact that I CHOSE to live far far from town or why I wouldn't expect others to pay for it.

But thats not all. My wife check was for $100, mine was only $75. We live in the same house, we have the same address, we drive the same vehicle.....why was her check more??? I feel like its a cold cut case of discrimination!!

There are other questions that could be asked too, like why wouldn't they think we are smart enough to make any appointments on the same day since we live so far from town?? That would mean we rode together and our cost of getting to town would be cut in half.....They could have saved a few pennies by putting both checks in the same envelope too......and they wonder why our medical system is going broke!

Heres the letter that accompanied both checks.....remember this the next time you hear a socialist like Bernie....

But it wouldn't take as many people to put both checks in one envelope !

Make-work BS !! Sounds like a jobs program for those with no skills !

She gets more because it always takes woman longer to get any place .... choosing what shoes wear and dress or pant , make up etc.

Yup, gov’t creating jobs. That’s why whenever I hear someone trying to get elected talking about creating jobs I cringe. These are the jobs they create.
Ever go into a plant and see all that health and safety? Creating jobs at its finest!

Maybe not in the Yukon, but in both big business and big government, much of the mass mailings and billing is done by machine, both the "letter" generation and stuffing. Ever wonder why you get a late fee letter for something such as still owing $2.76 or some extremely low number from your insurance compnay? Its because the letters are all automatically computer generated with almost no human "eyes on" handling.

They sound like mileage checks. Not sure what the rate is in up in Little Brother Canadia but here it's $.54/mile. Someone probably recorded a difference of 25ish miles round trip for her to get more. Probably figured men know all the short cuts.

Certainly was discriminatory. Giving her more because she's a woman must mean she's more disabled/handicapped as a female.
Definitely sexist in nature.

Maybe jobs are cut because of computer programs that automatically generate these mailings and automation sends the checks. Maybe could complain about the government being more efficient by cutting a few jobs?

Funny & sad at the same time. We have the worst government in the world, besides all the rest.
