WTA Dist.5 Winter Meeting January 27!!!!!!!!!!!

WTA District 5 is holding their Winter Meeting Saturday, January 27. Location is at the Trempealeau Archery Club on Wagner Road, just outside Trempealeau. The meeting starts at 1:00 followed by a great potluck! There will be bucket raffles before and after the meeting with some great prizes. More prizes will be appreciated. It usually wraps up about 4:30 p.m.

Is there ever any trapping demo's at this event?

Not in all the years I have gone. There are a heckuva lot of very experienced trappers there that would be very willing to help someone out, I know. The potluck is worth the time you spend there. They usually have beaver, muskrat, and bunch of other stuff there and I look forward to the beaver every year because it's excellent!

Yes, I'm not in D5 but have been to several of your summer rendezvous. Always great talking to such knowledgeable and interesting people. WTA members do such a great job helping each other out and sharing tips. I wonder if other states have such great support amongst their members. The best demo I've seen at a WTA summer rondy was a couple years ago in LaCrosse County when Bruce N put on the demo on winter canine trapping.

I am reasonably certain Bruce will be there.

Kind of a light turnout this year. I think everybody's out on the ice as it's really a nice day. As usual, the potluck was incredible with catfish, northern pike, smoked beaver (beavah for Nessie), venison, and just about every pan of bars you could imagine. Rumor has it there was turkey gizzards mixed in to one of the casseroles but I couldn't find it.

Always a good way to beat cabin fever and even win a prize or two in the bucket raffles. I even got to bring home some leftover beaver (beavah for Nessie again)and deep fried northern. They'll be good lunch sandwiches this week!

I have to confess Moosetrot I was one them on the ice with the boys for the Atomic Derby.. Yes it was very nice out there you can tell if you'd seen me not wearing gloves. I didn't even fish long or catch a fish, just time with my son and his buddies. They did catch a few fish to qualify them for the raffles.. I didn't go to after fishing party, so not sure if the drew any winners.
Was a lot of people out on the ice. Seen lot of big fish measured and a lot of people with two or more big northern..

Yes it was Ray, they fished out front Red Pines. I took this pic after we drove on the ice around to by Nelson park. they had the registration station for the fish derby there. I'm guessing if I wanted to shoot a round over to your house. I'd be shooting just to left of them boys, I think I'd be close?

Talked to the boy this morning they didn't get drawn on any prizes. Couple of their friends won some money on tips..

Yeah, probably pretty close! I'd be forced to retaliate, though, and send a volley or two back at yah! It's like the Wild West out here on the Prairie, you know!

Forgot to mention the WTA D5 Rendezvous will be in Mondovi this year. Details will be coming out and will be posted on T-Man.

Going to be interesting to see what happens to that circus of folks out there on the lake when ice starts to go. That long cold snap with no snow made good ice in places I have never seen folks ever drive before. Got to be some dummies going to try drive one more day than they should once it goes punky..going to be interesting.
Then they'll be coming wanting me to figure out how to get their truck or car towed out.
Not my problem LOL! Might make a few bucks off it though.
