Tanning hides - 02/10/18 04:46 AM
I have tanned a few of my furs and most have turned out pretty good. But my question is, most all tanning options say to salt the hide first. But what if I have already dried the hide. Is the salt just for drying or is it part of the tanning process.

Not sure about others but the orange bottle tells you to salt and let set for 24 hours. It's not needed if the hide was dried completely. Just go on to the salt bath.

Rehydrate the dried hide in salt water.

You can generally go straight to the pickling step.
