Nor-Easter #4 - 03/19/18 11:04 AM

Here we go again. Got a window today to tend my nets. Then I wont be able to get out for 3 maybe 3-4 days.
OH the life of a Pro trapper, commercail fisherman.

At least I wont have to worry about any more trees comming down in the yard. Their all cut up now. Just have to split'm up. Got about 4-5 cord out of 3 trees.

Newt
I was hoping this crap would start turning. I am heading down in your neck of the woods to kill some scallops off Cape May but considering the size of this new ride I am very limited in the weather I can fish 35-40 is a little more then I care to deal with.

Re: Nor-Easter #4 - 03/19/18 07:46 PM

Just north of the Elafant tunk 2-7 miles in the Mid Atlantic Access Area. I have two trips at 14.400 lbs each and in a 45’ boat so I will be there for awhile

Re: Nor-Easter #4 - 03/19/18 07:48 PM

Then I will be back in the 60’ boat that I normally run after April

You do anything with the body after you shuck the muscle ? I bet they would make great eel pot bait.

Re: Nor-Easter #4 - 03/19/18 08:20 PM

The gut of the scallop and the shells get tossed back we only keep the muscles

Re: Nor-Easter #4 - 03/19/18 08:24 PM

Part of the gut can be toxic at times. More so on mud bottom like many areas in Maine so we can’t bring them ashore. High in red tide. When I first started I was 8 or so my neighbor wanted some for her chickens. The next morning they were all dead. But for eels they may be fine. I catch a pile of strippers on them.
We used a lot of chicken parts as a kid for eel trapping worked good. And crushed up muscles too worked well.

Well good luck to you. I keep a few munkfish myself for the freezer from that area the last two days of the trip. Had some last week while I was ice fishing. Rolled in flour and fried in hot grease
