Kentucky Public Land Turkeys - 04/08/18 03:56 PM
Does anyone have any experience hunting eastern Kentucky public ground mainly the Daniel Boone National Forest? Im thinking of heading down Wednesday to scout a few days and then hunt the opening weekend. Kind of a spur of the moment thing trying to get in a little bit of hunting before our opener in 2 weeks. Im not looking for spots or anything just some general info on turkey population density and hunting pressure.
Where Ive hunted its mainly ag ground thats flat as a pancake with predictable turkey roosts and movement. From what ive saw on topos and reading other forum posts about the area its pretty rugged terrain. Do the turkeys have a preference for roosting areas such as ridge tops or bottoms? Im going into this not expecting much success hunting wise but it should be a good adventure.
