Now that weed is legal in Canada will we see increased smuggling into the US?

Will Canadia be over-run with US pot heads seeking asylum?

Yes, to both.

Fairly soon though, marijuana will be legal throughout the US too and Canadian marijuana will be a non-issue in the US. Most US users will be stuck in low paying, non-important jobs and they will mostly vote democrat. Dope is for dopes.

That's a stereotypical, ignorant statement to make. Some of the most successful people I know use the devils cabbage, and not middle class successful, like 1% successful....

Alcohol is a far more destructive and abused substance than MJ. I've seen plenty of lives ruined, families broken and lost from alcohol abuse than MJ.

Re: Canadian Border? - 06/20/18 05:08 PM

I did not say all marijuana users would be unsucessful. I know there are people that can use drugs and still be in control of their own lives. Most drug users, including marijuana users, are controlled by the drug and become less productive and motivated. If you don't believe me, look at the thousands of studies on the subject. Even without the studies, my life experience tells me this is so.

The profit that governments hope to make off of marijuana is the main reason it is becoming legal.

or maybe because MJ isnt such a big deal and shouldnt be classified the same as cocaine or heroin.

Maybe people consuming MJ should be considered a personal freedom, and not a reason for "freedom lovers" to support the same bloated overreaching Gov't they curse in every other breath, while at the same time being ok with tobacco and alcohol being legal.

People are only free to do what others beleive they should be free to do..... which isn't what freedom should look like..

I think that they may as well make marijuana legal. I think that like cigarettes and excessive alcohol use, marijuana is generally bad for people, but I think that they should still have the choice to use it. I think that unless their decision, has a very good chance of adversely effecting other people, people should be allowed to make bad decisions.

I don't think most marijuana users are a threat to other people. I do think most marijuana users are crippling their own potential, but that should be their choice. People should have the right to fail. They should not have the right to make others support their failures.

They need the $ to be able to buy more votes to keep the liberal ideal alive.

Seattle just approved spending 13 million to turn the city hall lobby into an overnight walk in shelter that will hold 60 people. $1600 a month to house one person for a few hours (if that 13 million is per annum, it may be just for a few months)....not permanent housing but an 'overnight' housing solution.

That's the best they got for ideas....13 million to continue a problem. No solution. The 'feel good' solution that accomplishes nothing in the end. That's all the liberals have...pay attention and look at history...you will see the truth to that. Legalized drugs, illegalize firearms and free stuff for a few hours....along with cursing out the Potus and First Family while they applaud one another for doing it.

The government has spent millions to vilify tobacco use, they force tobacco companies to no longer advertise on TV or in magazines, force them to print health warnings on their products and limit the places people can smoke in public. In some states you can be arrested for smoking tobacco inside a car with your children present.

But marijuana, which has many of the same toxins, irritants and carcinogens as tobacco, is okay?

It's all about the money, bunch of hypocritical (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman).

Treat marijuana like booze,
levy a federal tax on any recreational use,

you could afford a couple walls with the revenue.
And in a way, Mexico would be paying for it.

Spoken like a true republican...What a shame that more do not realize that when government does not have an opinion it does not mean that the activity is condoned. Freedom has its rough points, too. Those activities where harm is done to others should be punished, and in most cases already is. The poor choice of using drugs harms one's own body. As far as billing 'us' for the harm done, well, that's probably a discussion for a socialized medicine thread.

Understanding has little to do with it. I don't understand how two men can love each other in a sexual way, among other oddities of humanity. The bottom line is accepting that one owns one body and shouldn't be thrown in a cage simply for using, posessing or selling something.
The wide swath of destruction that drug use has caused our society may be narrowed by legalization (notice I didn't say normalization, understanding or acceptance of drug use).
It truly is embarrassing that Canada leads the USA in this area of personal liberty.

Yes I can carry a handgun. Some places you cannot.Besides we don't need "props" here to make us think we are free.
I could walk from my home, and in an hour I would be in a place I would not encounter another human being for as long as I chose.

You cant be any more free than that.

Canadians seem to be more like chattel property than free people to me.

If you wanted to overthrow the queen, I would vote for America to help Canadadians to become a free people.

Why don't you get rid of the royalty? The pledges and oaths, posturing and groveling they make your leaders do is embarrasing. It makes me feel uncomfortable. I don't like to see it and think the time is well past for it to end.

The queen certainly has a say in how Canada is run. There is still a Governor general of canada who is appointed by the queen, and all laws of Canada need royal assent by the Governor General. She hasnt as of yet decided to void any of Canada's law, but that is her prerogative.

Everything I have read says that the Canadian government is completely ruled by the queen, if she wants to exert that rule. That's definitely what all the oaths mean, that Canada's leaders make while groveling and debasing themselves to her or her image.
