Child porn - 07/05/18 06:07 AM

What I am about to put on this site is something that I have no idea where in the world this came from. I am basically being black mailed by some freak on some server. They told me that I have just viewed Child Porn and if I don't send some bitcoins to a certain server, the person or persons will turn me over to the police and the FBI. I wonder just what can a person do about being black mailed by some freak about something I didn't have any part in. This rather pisses me off to no extent and if I could figure out how to put these suckers in jail,I would not care how much real money it would cost me. All I can say is, let the fun begin. I want to play, but not quite the way these freaks want to play.
Moderators,I am sorry if I put something on Tman that I shouldn't have. Please delete this thread, but please send me a PM so that I can at least have a person to discuss this sorry bunch of baloney with.

Sounds like a phishing scam to me. Basically what it is they throw out a bunch of emails like yours. Then they hope that one gets hooked and sends them what they want. The problem is, even if you just respond in any way they have you hooked. Then they keep sending them upping the ante each time.
Your best bet is to take the email or what have you to your local PD. That way if they keep trying you'll have it on record.

I probably get 10 of these a week. I just ignore them anymore.

I get some emails saying that my order is on the way that was from Amazon and I did not get anything from there for a long time I just do not reply to it.It is in my junk mail.I just remove it.Just put it in your junk mail and that it and remove all that is in it after every so often.I also had some from the FBI that they say and it is about some thing ,I just junk it and then remove it with the rest of the junk after. Just remember that even if they say they will do it . let them prove it. I have hear of someone got a email about some thing and then the person gave the Sheriff address to pick up the what ever it is and they got pick up after. The person did talk with the law first about all that was going on. But I would just let it alone.

It's just a scam. It's the same as the prince from Nigeria that wants to give you millions. As for telling the FBI, you are wasting your time. They won't give a crap and won't do a darn thing.

Re: Child porn - 07/05/18 11:27 AM

Yeh I got one a few months back stating they hacked my computer and found I was on many porn sites. They claimed to have all my contacts and pics of me wanking off from the camera on my computer. They said I was to send xxx amount of dollars to them or they'd send pics to all my email contacts. It is my business computer so obviously they had nothing they claimed. My computer doesn't even have a camera on it? However, if they send it to 1,000 people there may be one or two that would be worried enough to send cash???

Meh, I usually lead them on or heckle them. I mean, if they are gonna waste my time I may as well get some fun out of it. I would probably have replied with something along the lines of " don't call your mother a child..." or simply a good old fashioned " go bleep yourself".

Best practice is probably just delete it.

I get a phone call every now and then from a New York number and the voicemail says I owe money for something and if I don’t pay, they will issue a warrant for my arrest. I can guarantee you I don’t owe anybody in New York any money. I just erase them and ignore it. I know all of the local cops here. If they issue a warrant for my arrest, they aren’t gonna book me anyhow. Most likely just call me and ask me what’s going on.

So, when you see on the news that a company has been hacked and personal information has been leaked, most times we are led to believe it's credit card or financial information. Most of the time, it is personal information, including email addresses. Some shady character will purchase a bulk lot of email addresses from the hacker, and then proceed to run a scam, similar to what you've experienced.

It's a numbers game. The blackmailer will send out 10s of thousands of emails, in the hopes that a few are scared enough to respond. Replying to the blackmailer, IN ANY MANNER, alerts that blackmailer that this is a valid, in use account, and that there is a live, potential victim on the other end. This allows them to further harass you, or to sell your email for a higher price down the line with caveat that "yep, there is a live one on this one for sure".

The method is pure terrorism- scare you enough, that even though you aren't remotely guilty of the crime charged, the thought of having to defend yourself in a public setting, with something as heinous as what you have been harassed with, is enough for some to just pay up, to "make it go away". The problem is- if you paid once, you'll pay twice.

I have very high filter settings on my email server, that if I am getting any of these, they never make it to my local computer. Flagged, quarantined, discarded. I used to have a program that would boomerang them back to sender with a "Recipient not Valid" message, indicating to the harasser that my server was rejecting my email as not active.

Unless they have actually put a lock on your computer, don't worry about it. If they have locked your computer, and are holding it hostage, there are work arounds that sometimes work, sometimes don't, all depending on the level of encryption that they have used.

Rest assured- this email you got is nothing more than a variation of the phone calls you get from supposed IRS, or whatever concoction they try next. It is not personal, although they may have automated followups for a period of time, but they will eventually stop, and another will start.

Until we can trust every company that we type our personal and financial information into, our data will continue to be hacked and sold, and this garbage of receiving threats for money will continue.

The first thing you do Is NEVER open any Email unless you know who's sending It. Delete Delete.

X2

If you want to report it I would call your local Law Enforcement and talk to someone in the cyber crimes unit to see if they could help. The FBI probably will not be interested.

Maybe the fbi needs to be disbanded if fraud is no longer a concern. Probably could fire a bunch of alphebets and no one would get less quality of life

Except for the parasites who infest the alphabets, their political feeders and a few cats and dogs that otherwise orbit the sphere of influence.

I do like the Beav,If I don't know where the e-mail is from it goes in the trashbin.I only open e-mails from known contacts.
Might be different if you run an online business.

Re: Child porn - 07/05/18 09:32 PM

Thanks Guys. It just kinda upset me a bit. I have never in my life been accused of looking at Child porn. Matter of fact, I am totally against any kind of low life scum that does this kind of thing. I get all kinds of junk that is telling me that I owe money to a certain person or that my bank account has been charged X amount of dollars for something that some person has bought. I don't own any credit cards and never will,so that stops about half the scams I get. Out of all the junk I get, this one just hit a nerve.
Thanks Guys for your caring response.

Re: Child porn - 07/06/18 01:05 AM

I can assure you that the last thing I would do would to call the FBI! Are you kidding me?! Isn't anyone paying attention to what is going on with the FBI?
Lets say your neighbor thinks you are poaching (but you are not)and threatens to take action against you some way or another.
Are you going to call the Game Warden on him and risk the Game Warden rifling through all of your belongings, then leave you house in disrepair, or nail you for going over your possession limit because you have too many Mrs. Paul's Fish Sticks in the freezer?
What do you suppose the FBI will do to you when they hear the words which you titled this thread?
