Your favorite All Purpose Sesoning - 08/02/18 05:45 PM
My favorite all purpose seasoning is no longer available. It was called Dewitts and was out of Louisiana. It was low on salt content and was very good on everything. The fella that sold it passed away and I was told his family wasn't going to produce it anymore. Trying to find a good replacement and everything I try is too salty. What is everybody's favorite All Purpose Seasoning?

"Tastefully Simply" Seasoned Salt.
I know a few that once tried it, will never buy anything else...including me.
Have to order online most places, though...but seems to be todays shopping world anyhow.

If I had to pick it would be Tony's or Old Bay. I generally don't use them. I like to do it myself. Like you said they all seem to have too much salt.

Thanks for the help. People use seasoning on things other than a steak. Such as frying back strap, eggs, soups, stir fry, fish, and I could continue.

Salt, pepper, red curry paste, lime.
The problem with most "all purpose" seasoning is that they have lots of MSG, yuck.

I put my low sodium homemade salsa on my eggs, spuds, meats, salads and in many of the slow cooker dishes I brew up and also my chili is salsa based.

Lots of good seasoning mixes here.
You can, as well, mix your own seasoning , buying what you like and mixing as you prepare meals.
Or, see what ingredients you like in a pre made mix, then buy them separately and mix when wanted. I think some have their own secret ingredients too that they allude to but not mention outright , but normally they do list them all.

Re: Your favorite All Purpose Sesoning - 11/26/18 06:41 AM
I wonder what percentage of these seasonings that have been mentioned contain monosodium glutamate? It's kind of too bad that so many seasonings need to rely on the fake perception of umami (savory taste) that is created by MSG.

Alpine touch (original) (lots of msg).

Re: Your favorite All Purpose Sesoning - 11/26/18 02:58 PM
To your original question I'm pretty much a salt and pepper guy. If you looking for something no/salt low/salt. I have to give a shout out to a local place here just up the street from me. It has lots of things spice wise I think folks on T-man would like.
Guy that started this company was my father inlaws band teacher way back in the day.
Give them a look over..
