I notice the long scraggly beards nowadays....everywhere with guys looking like rip van winkle just waking up...whatsup with that? The amish who bought my walnuts had a neat kept beard. The guys post the other day made me think of this...i heard a guy say he was smelling something fowl one day and discovered he had a small piece of liver in his beard....

I grow full beard in winter months for the warmth. Lol

I left a job where I was required to be clean shaven 6/30/1985 and I haven't shaved since. I do keep it trimmed super short.

I live among the Amish and I wish I could grow a long beard. I have had mine for 30 years and it just gets grayer.

I usually stop shaving on September 1st. I do it for warmth. My grandpa said he had a beard so when he was looking up at a squirrel on a limb they would think it was just brush looking up at them. Who am I trying to kid. I don't like to shave ,thats the reason I do it.

I can't be Amish as I wear a mustache & goatee. Started the mustache the day my oldest son was born, he turned 50 this year. Been wearing chin whiskers for maybe 20 to 25 years. Can't see mowing off a perfectly good chin.

Re: is everybody wanting to be amish? - 08/05/18 05:17 PM

My chin hasn't seen the light of day in nearly 17 years. I had a goatee in college and several years after. Shaved it off for my wedding, but grew it back that fall. Used to grow the beard for winter then trim the goatee back in the spring. Now it's full beard, full time. I'll cut it down in the summer a bit, but with fall approaching, it'll only get an occasional trim so I look somewhat presentable when needed.

Lots of them around here, but they'd have to clean-up alittle before the Amish allowed them in! lol.

Re: is everybody wanting to be amish? - 08/05/18 06:54 PM

Short, but full beard, here.

I think the Amish are a bit smarter, though, by eliminating the mustache. In the winter the condensation from breathing turns it into an icicle. If it didn't look so stupid, I'd probably shave it.

Ain't shaved clean since 'fall 76, keep it trimmed shorter in the summer tho.

Re: is everybody wanting to be amish? - 08/05/18 10:12 PM

haven't shaved in almost 20 years

I trim when it gets too long , too long is determined by if it gets caught in my coat zipper or when I bring a gun to my shoulder.

the mustache gets trimmed when it is getting in the way.

what part of taking a blade to your face sounds natural or like a good idea?

I've also worn a goatee for years. I've had to shave it off a few times... Refineries... But I always grow it back.

I can't stand a mustache or full beard. But my goatee suits me.

My wife told me I have the kind of face that looks better with hair covering it. SoI keep myself clean-shaven during the warm half of the year just to irritate her!
