330 possession ! - 08/18/18 01:58 AM

The Governor here in Delaware signed the other day the right for folks to possess a 330 size body grip trap. Still can't set them (yet) . But we'll see in the future . Baby steps,,, gotta take baby steps in order to get laws changed!

How do you deal with beavers ? Aint it funny when the government thinks they know more than the trap manufactures recommended trap for a spieces. The challenges trappers have to endure in other states just blow me away!

What inmates ask each other when they get put in jail, pointing out how ridiculous the whole thing is.

insane never heard of such crazy crap going to jail for trapping parafanila! Was there a mass killing spree with 330s I never heard about!

Re: 330 possession ! - 08/18/18 01:24 PM

So fighting to get the right back to be able to use larger body grips is ridiculous. Or the State banning them ? But yes,, as ridiculous as it sounds. It was unlawful to even possess a body grip over 5". Hey that's pretty bad I grant you . But there are States with laws around trapping a lot worse than this . But we're fighting and trying to get it right again .

No just a crazy law that was passed years ago because some uneducated trapper caught a non-target and the rest of us suffered for 40 yrs ?

Thanks Dude ,,, we are trying . There are those that said we were wasting our time . The help finally came from a Sportsman's Caucus in our State Senate . Those folks deserve the credit .Our new Trappers organization got the ball rolling . Our next step is being able to set them. All in time,, all in time !

Re: 330 possession ! - 08/19/18 01:40 AM

It really is great news, next step is use of body grip traps over 5”. We have to keep fighting while we still have the fine folks in the State Senate and House of Representatives on our side

Use of pistol caliber rifles between .38 and .500 with a case length of 1.25” and 1.80” is now legal also.

Along with deer hunting on Sunday.

Ask Newt about possessing traps in NJ and the ramifications.

Re: 330 possession ! - 08/19/18 02:04 AM

Had a Trooper stop me in MI passed another car was speeding to get back in my own lane. I was heading back to the camp just bought some traps at the fur buyer and I am driving down a State Highway, he see my traps and asks me why they don't have tags on them?

Said they are new I just bought them and they are not set up for trapping yet still new with the grease on them and had the ring on the end of the chain. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing they say. LOL

Re: 330 possession ! - 08/19/18 04:42 AM

It's scary to think that an out of stater could have gotten in trouble for driving thru Deleware with a 330 in the back of their truck. With the crazy laws some states have, it's not always easy to follow all the laws while crossing into another state.

Re: 330 possession ! - 02/17/19 12:33 PM

Maybe when they open it will be like our law of a fully submerged trap , All our Coni's have to be fully submerged unless in tidal and then must be submerged at high water. Yeah Newt can tell you how stupid our trap laws are in this libtard state.

We are going to try and mirror Maryland I believe. Just has to be in water ( any depth like 1”) if over 7”. And permanently saturated ground like swamps if under 7”.

We have to talk about it first and see what will work best, while retaining as much freedom as possible.

Some guys want a bodygrip class.

We already have to have landowner permission to be there, so I’m leaning toward checking a box saying you are allowed to use it on their property

Does anyone know of a state that requires a Conibear class?

I know some require one for cable restraints.

It's hard to believe there is a state in the union where it not legal to own a piece of metal.

Re: 330 possession ! - 02/17/19 04:50 PM

Wait until they have an amnesty program...trap buy-backs. The idiots did it with woodstoves. I can see a day when it'll be considered a crime against humanity to own a Newhouse #6. It will be looked upon like a Confederate monument.

When barrel stoves are illegal, only outlaws will have barrel stoves.

Re: 330 possession ! - 02/17/19 05:25 PM

It is illegal here for a non licenced person to posess any traps except a cage.(it is a fine, not jail)
It is a good law, backed by the trappers association.
It protects licenced, trained professional trappers from the ramifications that harm the industry when untrained, unlicenced joe blow sets a trap and catches the neighbors pet.
It was also used once that I know of to charge an animal rights activist(an untrained unlicenced person in possession) showing a foothold trap in the media and spewing the BS about how inhumane they are.
If you let your trapping licence expire,or retire from trapping, you have 5 years to sell/get rid of your traps.
