removing speed dip

What is the best way to remove speed dip from traps?

I just happened to use some oven cleaner on some painted traps, it did a pretty good job eating up that paint. Maybe it would work for speed dip?

I don't know if it was Speed Dip, but over the years I had removed the sticky stuff from dipped traps by swooshing them in gasoline. It worked every time I tried it.

I am sure gas will work well, but you may have residual odor. I have used Coleman fuel on used traps that have been dipped in speed dip to remove it. I soak them for an hour, then wipe off any excess with a paper towel. It is tedious, but works well.

I use premium gas, old towels and wire brushes to get rid of the older dip on the traps. I typically dip my water traps so I don't worry so much about the lingering odor as they will be dipped in speed dip and premium gas after the cleanup. I thin my dip out much more than the recommended and do it twice or so on very hot, dry and if possible breezy days. They dry quickly for me that way.
