Mine is an inherited nickname that started with my dad whose name us Chuck. When I got to junior high his classmate that gave him the name was one of my teachers.
So he gave me the same nickname. My brother is also nicknamed chuckles and my sister is chuckette. The 84 is the model year of my first truck.

Used to hunt hogs and bear with dogs, reused from one of those forums. Catch-dog = a dog that catches and holds a wild hog.

My given name is "Two dogs" but I use Hodagtrapper on here!

Ginseng does not grow well on the trail, so ya gotta go get it, I would tell him. He gave up on me, cause it was too tough. Darn babies!!!

I ended up working in a nursing home and found out I enjoyed working with the elderly. Went back to college in my late 30's and became a nurse.

My name is Tom and I used to hunt cougar and the Lillooet, BC Indians called me tomcat which is my tag on Canadian forms. Since tomcat was already taken in the US I added BC to it.

When i was younger, my best friend and i loved watching "muppet treasure island". Always seemed like he was handed "the black spot" when he passed away in '02. I took the handle to honor him. I never had a brother, only three younger sisters. Joe was the closest to a brother i've had.

Was watching TV show Mcgyver at the fire station when I was first new hire there. Mcgyver he was doing some magic stunt scuba diving in that particular show. So one of the other guys watching knowing I was a diver says "Mcgyver The Deep Sea Diver" Everyone gets big laugh and the after that I was called Mcgyver at the fire station. Some one even made one of them labels stuck it on my helmet when I wasn't looking.
So anyway some years later my sister is helping me set up my first ever e-mail account. Of course I wanted Mcgyver but it came up with Mcgyver 1 million or something. I didn't want that. She tried couple different close spellings all came up with a number behind them. So anyway I told her to make something up that came up as just that one name. Hence "Macthediver" was my first and still is my original e-mail address.
When I first found T-man and it wanted a login name I just used the one internet name I already had.
Long story but that is the history of Macthediver.

Beside the fact that I am the top predator, my name came from one of my off road trucks.

With 44" tires on the back and 33" on the front; I would claw my way up unbelievably steep hills with the spectators saying it looks like a T-Rex.

Granddaughter was with me when I signed up and wanted me to use her name. So I did.

Back in the day I was a timber tramp, cutting timber for anyone that needed help.

When I joined the site looking for coyote trapping advice my only trapping experience was with coons. Coonman was taken so I added the 300 because I like shooting a 300 Win Mag.

My first foray into social media was Archery Talk it just seemed appropriate. And it or some shortened variation like QBD has served me well on several forums since. It is somewhat unusual (never had an issue with it being already taken by someone else) and it is easy to remember.

Gulo is Latin word translating to "glutton" in English. Both the genus and species of wolverine. I did wolverine research in Alaska for many years. Later, really enjoyed trapping them. Still a fascinating critter to me.

Years back, before the internet and cell phones made land line phones obsolete, I would site at the table in October calling people with beaver damage complaints. I'd call and introduce myself by my name and explain why I was calling (or returning their call.)

often they would go "who?" and I would again start to explain why I was calling. Suddenly it would dawn on them who I was and they would suddenly exclaim "Oh, you're THEBEAVERGUY!"

Stupidity... when I set up my username and password I thought the username would be the tag name. So apparently where I should have put in a tag name I put in my actual name with my last initial. Forty years ago a friend of mine in Alaska starting calling me Posco after a supposedly famous black mountain man named Posco Chubb. He couldn't have been a very famous mountain man as I've never been able to find his name anywhere, but the nickname stuck.

Been called Mac since high school days. That was a longggggggg time ago.

Named after the lake by my farm. Was named for my great great grandfather who homesteaded there. Also the name of my fur buying business. It was the first place I ever trapped.

Mine gets a bit dragged out to tell.. At the fire station the guys started calling me "MacGyver The Diver" because I was a diver and always rigging things. We were watching the TV show and old MacGyver was diving so I got dubbed that handle which got shortened to just MacGyver..
So it was in late 1980s I got the MacGyver handle...
Fast forward to around 1997 I got a hand me down 386 Hewitt Packard computer from my sister. She was setting it up for me helping me get an e-mail account.. I wanted to use the MacGyver name for my e-mail. But that being popular I would have ended up like MacGyver a million or some crazy number.. So my sister started messing around did the Macthediver and no others popped up.
So Macthedvier it was.
First time I logged into the old chat here on T-man I used the only internet name I had at the time. Been that then ever since.

The signature I use below goes back to an old timer I knew. Heard him use a variation of it the first time when was about 10 years old. Decided it fit myself in more than one way to remember,, so hung on to it.
