What's for Supper? Steaks and Garden Stuff!

What's for Supper? Steaks and Garden Stuff! - 10/06/18 11:59 PM

Tonight, we had a couple of steaks on the grill and made a side with a few garden items we just rescued before our first big frost. Grilled slices of eggplant, brushed with olive oil and topped with garden thyme, rosemary, tomato slices and basil and a slice of fresh mozzarella.

Home from Marshfield, home from Canada, home from Iowa and nice to be here for a little while before the next business trip. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!

What's going on out there tonight? I hope there's good stuff on your Trapperman tables! Let me know!

Yum! Looks good as usual.

We had a lamb roast, with roasted carrots and butternut squash.

Only thing we bought was the butter, salt and pepper.

Love those kinda meals!

I made bbq'd and hickory smoked country ribs with new garden red potatoes plus a garden salad with my tomatoes and goats cheese. A LITTLE pinot noir washes it down nice.

I baked a MoorGold squash, and am stir frying up some pork to go with it, and one big sliced tomato for a appetizer.

Grilling some chicken to top off a Ceaser salad, and some home made muffins. I make darn good muffins you know.

Made a quick meal and didn't want to go to the store. Marinated top round steak with long grain rice.

My wife made a dandy squirrel pot pie tonight. Had apple crisp and ice cream for dessert.

Thanks, Huntrap! And great job! Those kind of meals sure are rewarding!

Fine meal, Squacks! Goat cheese from your own goat. That's a perfect touch!

Wow, Les! Another wonderful supper!

I believe you, Osky! I can almost smell them baking from here! Nice! All sounds good.

Nice presentation, Adam! Nice plate too, by the way! Thanks for the photo!

Now there's a comfort food meal, TrapperDR. We love squirrel stew around here.

Thank you, Gary! All of our best to you and yours as well!

whoops...my bad grammar is showing! I don't own any goats. The goat cheese was bought....probably from Sauk County Wisconsin where cheese is wonderful. I get there several times a year. Nice country up there.

Thanks Patrice. How's this for brunch?
Waffle with homemade triple berry compote (sauce).
I know I should be staying away from carbs but needed something quick

Thanks. You're welcome Patrice. Great minds think a like. I am thinking chicken parmigiana but today is rough health wise might do meatballs instead

Sounds wonderful, Big Joe!

Adam, I am still laughing that a homemade waffle with homemade triple berry compote is something quick! grin

Re: What's for Supper? Steaks and Garden Stuff! - 10/08/18 04:45 PM

smile Patrice the waffle was from the box. The compote was homemade. 10 minute boil 5 minute simmer. While the compote was cooking I made the mix let it rest while the compote boiled. I guess more like easy is a better description.
How was your pasta?

I was fortunate enough to fill my bear tag last week. So I had to eat crappy bear steaks on the grill. lol

I would post pics. But not sure if it’s possible on an IPhone? Or if I have the know how anyway.

Re: What's for Supper? Steaks and Garden Stuff! - 10/10/18 12:00 AM

Too funny, Adam! That little edge missing from the waffle made it look homemade. The compote more than made up for it! I did make the spaghetti but then used garden tomatoes, basil and garlic in a sauce and it was great. (BAD Patrice. BAD!) laugh

Congrats on your bear, Brian! Great stuff! There probably is a way to post but I am not familiar - otherwise you know I would be happy to help out. If you're interested, I have a beautiful corned game recipe that I used on a bunch of my bear meat and it was really nice!

congrats on the bear Brian.

smile Thanks Patrice. MMMM that sounds good. lol
I was bad today I made fried steak fingers for lunch and tostadas (kids choice) tonight. They head to NYC in the morning for Shayla's annual follow up. I made up the recipe for the steak fingers and although they were really good by themselves I want to create a sauce that would complement them.

Here's lunch

That sounds great, Boco!

Good stuff there, Nessy! Are you having a problem posting photos? Do you have a way of saving your photos at a lower resolution? (I know nothing about iphones!) I use a camera to take all of my photos at really high resolution but make lower resolution copies of them for posting. Good luck!

Now that sounds really good, Malukchuk!

Oooh, Adam, those are looking good! Thanks for the photo!

You all are making me hungry and I am eating enchiladas.

Thanks Patrice. You're welcome. Sorry no pic of the enchiladas. I was so hungry I forgot to warm the beans and dice the maters.

Ness, resize the photos and you should be fine. Or take a screenshot and upload the screenshot

Nessy, you have to get your photo posting thing figured out. I miss those meals and those plates!

Redsleeves, that's eating off the land in style!

I'll bet it is, Tactical!

Adam, you probably serve the best enchiladas anywhere!

That's beautiful, TrapperDR! Thanks for the photo!

Re: What's for Supper? Steaks and Garden Stuff! - 10/12/18 02:09 PM

Patrice, they are good but I can't hold a candle to my mom's, auntys, or my step-in-laws family enchiladas or most of their food.

TrapperDR…

Tongue tacos are the best and yours look perfect. Real lack of Mexican food here in France but I'm coming to CA and WA in a couple weeks and get my fill.

Patrice, you and Zim are eating well as usual. Gardens are wound down here too but just ate our last tomato salad today. Lots of leek soup this winter.

Sounds like you're carrying on some nice traditions, Adam.

Pete, we ate our last three garden tomatoes last Friday. Sad moment! Leek soup is always nice to have in the freezer here too! Have a safe and fun visit!

TDHP, that looks good! Thanks for the photo! What is all in there?
