You aren't that far , are you ? Bring some tradin' traps. I'm bringing a 10 year old neighbor kid along, I think. The only thing he thinks about is trapping and football. He told me yesterday he had $25 saved up to spend on traps, lol.

I just hope it's nice weather down there that day, it's 70% snow/rain for that day up here...but down in the banana belt of Hill City it might be just a hair warmer. laugh

I will make a quick stop just to pay Dale for his overpriced trap. Evidently it has some sentimental value to him.

Man I really wish these things happened a little closer central part of the state atleast. Sucks living on the iowa border!

Borgy, make a road trip. The Spang hall can't be beat-nice facility and the price is right.
Also a beautiful area.
No matter where an event is held, its a long drive for some.

True, see how this week at work goes. I missed the MTA convention, demo day out at schmitt enterprises I went a day early because I mixed up the dates. Need to get my butt out and start finding some coyote sign here soon. This will be my first year trapping, ideally I should be going to all of these events.

I have $5 that says he can clean skin one while eating a ham sandwich!

Re: Commercial Trappers of Mn Demo Day - 10/09/18 02:14 AM

Ham sandwiches aren't halal.
Posted By: trapper les

Re: Commercial Trappers of Mn Demo Day - 10/09/18 02:38 AM

Dang, I don't know my Finnspeak, what halal ?

I eat canned venison sammiches just to clean the castor off my fingers.

Tom, I'm receiving a donation of traps for the kids that are there, We'll figure out a way to disperse them.

Is there an ice cream vendor on the grounds? confused

Re: Commercial Trappers of Mn Demo Day - 10/09/18 03:22 AM

No ice cream. I'm pretty sure Les would let you chew on some beaver castor or an oil sack or two.

Maybe not to you, but Logan would be game for a double dipper with drizzled chocolate & sprinkles!

I have $10 that says Boggy can clean skin with one hand, smoking a cigarette, drinking a thermos of coffee, and talking to Trapper Les at the same time.
Now, there is no specified time limit on this.... right?

Re: Commercial Trappers of Mn Demo Day - 10/09/18 02:32 PM

I would be willing to throw down a little and donate a trap to a kid if someone in charge could contact me and coordinate. I would donate a MB650 but not sure that is a good starter trap for a kid. Hopefully know by thursday if I can actually attend the event.

I made up half of that couple last year and it was advertised on that flyer. Don't see anything about it on this years flyer.
And I already promised to hand deliver a special trap to a member on here. So was thinking about loading up some more.

Had a good time. Demos were great. Found out Trapper Les knows more about sharpening knives than anyone I have ever met. He is also, second to many, at clean skinning beaver. grin It was great to meet some new folks and see some old friends.

We could have used you there Shannon, Mike had 35 lbs of mud bugs to cook up.

Re: Commercial Trappers of Mn Demo Day - 10/14/18 08:34 PM

Next year it's on the list.
How was the discussion period?

I'll have to bring down a " old mower blade" beaver knife and see how Les preforms with it. It was made with a triangle mower blade sharpened down to a finger knife for clean skinning. The old time trapper just passed away at 99 years old.

If I showed up there to eat them Mud Bugs, there wouldn't been much for the rest of ya! Maybe next year.
