Good video Jeff! What were you shooting. Looks as though the bullet did its job.

Sorry Jeff I’m sure it was a good video but my mind went in a different direction as soon as the music started. Couldn’t think of anything but Jennifer Aniston laugh

Re: Moose Hunt 2018 - 10/11/18 03:28 PM

Jennifer Aniston is old enough to date Steven Tyler now. You got to fixate on some newer starlets there Golf ball! Maybe a Cardasion / Jenner or Niki Manage. Niki Manage has a trapping song out (I bees in the trap), so there you go (it might even reference bees so there you go Yukon Jeff something for you in there too).

Didn't get to see the actual shot, but was great seeing all those bulls, especially that one that waded the creek.

I'm surprised that loud music doesn't scare them away.

We like to sell the inedible ones to non-residents. Congrats on getting a small bull, Jeff. The last three years I have shot the three smallest bulls I have ever shot. Last years was too small. It lacked volume. Small bull hunting is getting better every year now. smile

Whitetail hunters here haven't figured that out yet.
Probably because they didn't rely on deer as their food.

Re: Moose Hunt 2018 - 10/11/18 06:29 PM

I enjoyed the video. Good for you. I did a solo hunt north of Aniak 12 years ago and got a nice bull. Maybe one of those inedible ones but the backstraps were tasty and the rest was eaten by the elders in Stony River.

Re: Moose Hunt 2018 - 10/12/18 02:57 AM

Thanks for the great coments guys. I shoot a Remington 7400 30-06 at least 180 g. I did buy a Ruger 7mm mag recnetly and tipped over a few with that, does a lot more damage ,but that can be a good thing.

The late September bulls smell bad, and have no fat, and tough as an old boot. Before the 15th of September or so they are fat and a good piece of meat. After that, like eating a big mink that you nicked the gland on.

I have not ate a bull in a few years. All my meat has Utters lately.

That Aniak /Stony River area is pretty country. Nice place to hunt for sure.

Cool video.

I haven't seen a spike/fork when moose hunting for years.

Use to be that way here when calf survival was 10% or less. That, and seeing a moose was an event. frown
