James for "Member of the Year!"
I know it is just about time for Mr. Dobbins to open the "Member of the Year" competition. I'd like to be the first to nominate my friend, James, for that award.
James always brings a refreshing, and introspective, lilt to our conversations around here. If it wasn't for James, well, need I say more?
James does all this, despite the fact that he is crippled. He had one knee give out and the Lord blessed him with good surgeons to get a new one. But he never let that impact his contribution down at the widow's and orphan's home. He was always willing to help out a widow, even if he had to hobble to get there.
And it's not just the $200.00 annual prize that should go to James as "Member of the Year" (Though God knows he could use it.) But the honor and respect of the entire trapperman.com fellowship..

Things get boring when only those with opinions popular with the majority feel comfortable posting. I try to read any post James makes. Same for your posts, Hal.

I will second James as Trapper of the Year. Don't always agree with him, but he does have a different lens to things going on.
Plus, he owes me lunch and needs the money to cover the tab.

As luck would have it, I will be in town next week. Sadly, I can't collect at that time, but am down quite often for work, so will have to set something up. Hopefully same place as last time. I have a hankering for that again.

I've met the man in person a couple of times, and we talked. He also likes cigars, as do I, and we enjoyed that together also. The last time I saw him, he had been recovering from an illness. He wasn't supposed to be smoking cigars, but I gave him one anyway. I don't know if his wife found out though - lol.

I smoked that one, and it was good, Paul. I still fire up a stogie now and then.
My last post in Wilderness forum was to sell some of my traps and gear. (Still for sale, most of it.) Those guys know a lot more than I do, so I normally just read there.
Trapper Talk is different though. Any fool is free to post here, so I do too.

We need to get together again before we die. I've got some Padron Anniversary 1926 stogies that are absolutely the best cigars I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. I'd like to sit down with you and smoke one with you sometime again.

Firing up a couple of stogies together sounds great. You never know, maybe I'll make it to an NTA convention again.
Last one I went to, I escaped being tarred and feathered when Hal let me out the back door. Maybe I'll go incognito next time.
