my new fishing partner - 11/08/18 11:40 PM

Well, I got my new boat finally. I picked it up a few weeks ago, but have been busy at work. So here is my new fishing boat, which will be mainly used on our rivers to pursue catfish. It is a 2472 SeaArk, ProCat 240. I have had it out two times, to get the outboard broke in, and still have some time to go on the break in, but now the weather is going to start going down hill on the days I can get out. I will be out this winter, as long as the ice stays away, chasing blue cats. I have a few changes I want to make , and some mods to work on this winter. TRapping season is right around the corner for Mo. , and we will be working overtime at work again, like always. I will get to trap some on my own property though, but I just can't get the time to get much of a line out. I hope everyone has a great trapping season!!!

Holy Mackerel (or should I say paddle fish) Gary, that is one heck of a boat! And to think I knew ya when you had that little 17 footer.
Good luck with it Buddy and I hope you put a ton of fish in it!
Patrice and I know a little puddle in northern Ontario that she would float in just fine.

My first time out to start on the breakin, the wind started gusting up to 40mph plus. I don't mind water that's choppy, but when the waves are coming over the windshield, I'm off the water. That was a horrible first trip out, but we did get some time in before it got too rough. I have spent a lot of years on the water, in all kinds of conditions, which have taught me who is in command. The water is boss, and gets my utmost respect.
My son now owns the 1996 , 1860 Alumacraft that I had for 22 years, so the ole vessel will keep making memories. He has spent a lot of years on the water with me, and will be safe as he ventures out on his own.

Went today to talk to a local service shop called Tri State Trolling motor. I will take the boat to them next week, for some mods that I want to start with. First, I need the trolling motor mounted to a disconnect base, for safety on the rivers. Electric deploy/stow motor can be brought into the boat by hand if need be. I am upgrading the system to support more electronics, and am adding extra battery power to make sure the outboard will always start. Good lord, high quality batteries are expensive!!! The new electronics are power hungry, so the power needs to be there when needed.
If the rivers get to a steady level, we will be chasing blue cats until ice starts coming down river. Then when spring gets here, it will be time for spoonbills again.
I hope you all have a very good trapping season!!!!!
