Dog Warden or Police responsibility??

Dog Warden or Police responsibility?? - 12/05/18 02:41 PM

Here we go again !!! mad

I was watching the old Johnny Carson Tonight Show reruns last night, when around 11:45 PM, some loud mouth big Dog started barking every few minutes . At 12:45 AM , As I was getting ready to go to sleep. It's still barking away. So, I get dressed , put my coat on and stand out on the front porch with recorder in hand waiting for that Dog to bark !!

Sure enough , it started barking again. Now, I don't know the exact house it was at , but I know the direction the barking was coming from. There are only 3 houses in that direction on that side of the road. 1:15 AM, the barking stopped when whoever it was, must have seen me standing on my front porch

Can only imagine how it would be in the Summer with the windows open at night ; and hearing that Dog bark all night long.

So, who is responsible for figuring out where that barking Dog is at ? Dog Warden or the Police ? They would have to sit in their vehicle in my Driveway at night , till that Dog started barking; to figure out where it is located.

If it takes that much to figure it out it must not be that big of a deal or that loud.
Put a fan on and go to sleep lol. To answer your question though, it would be the local
Animal control of you have one that Inforces such complaints.

Police. Dog wardens aren't in charge of noise ordinances.

Walk down the road and find the house. Knock on the door and politely inform them their dog is keeping you up. No need to involve police yet, just be neighborly. If the barking continues, then you already know which house to send the police to.

Here we call the police with noise complaints, they send a squad if one is free to sit and do the listening. Funny part is you can call in a dog if it's barking they will come check if free. If the neighbor is running a snow blower or even maybe even mowing at midnight. Good luck with that one..LOL

Here it's animal control but in the case of late night that's a noise complaint and PD would deal with it if and when free to do so.

Can't count how many times animal control has come to my house because of the grumpy neighbor. Each time animal control says my hound doesn't bark for more than 2 minutes if that and barking has to be continuous for 10+ minutes so my hound is well within the ordinance.

Before involving the popo maybe go over there and ask him to keep his dog quiet.

My closest neighbor is my uncle about 500 yds away and he has 30 bear hounds, and anytime some critter comes within smelling distance they all start up. I've coon hunted most my life so the sound of hounds doesn't bother me but my wife is a different story eek

City guy wanted to go on a fox chase, soon as they got one going hot, one of the dog men said " listen to that music " The city dude said he couldn't hear nothin for those dang dogs.

When my neighbors corn drier runs and the wind is right and I try to sleep I put the Celtic Woman DVD in and sleep like a baby. I would wear ear plugs if I had to.

Barking dogs can be a problem, I just go over and talk to the owner. Has always worked for me.

If it's the property owner I think it is, they let their Dog have the run of the property with one of those invisible fence things. Last Dog they had, charged right at me , till it got to the electric fence. That one ran out into the road when the power went out, and got killed by a truck. Now, they got a bigger Dog. Mastiff, I think.

Neither. Nobody is going to do anything about it. If you approach the owner he will say, ok, and do nothing. Now he knows you don't like his dogs.......

Check your local laws for how (long) a dog can bark before it is considered illegal. Record and if over that limit? Turn in to authorities (there should be some sort of fine). If not, try to prove loss of wages and physical health due to lack of sleep in small claims.

You may have to have several police reports, doctor notes, and paperwork from work to have a small claims?

I would assume that since dog is on his own property and not doing anything other than barking that it would be a police issue on noise. Dog running loose, chasing people or biting would be the dog warden issue.

Put on your fur slippers and grab your man purse and beat on the door until you get some satisfaction.

Who’s responsible for dealing with a problem that’s bothering you? Hmm... well, who wipes your butt and shovels your driveway? Must be the government!

Sorry, I’m just not used to using the government as my sugar-daddy savior at every opportunity. Different culture I suppose.

Gee, I wonder why we live in such a litigious society that requires insurance for everything under the sun...
