Removing grease from wire - 12/13/18 09:05 AM
What’s the best way to clean that thick black grease from 9/11 gauge wire? I’ve always boiled in degreasing soap, but it doesn’t seem to work that great. I’ve also heard that drain-o works, but I’ve never tried. Anyone got anything that works good?

I usually use vinegar but maybe you could try Gunk Engine cleaner first

You take the grease off then you deal with rust until that roll is done. It will rust faster than a Chevy during a Michigan winter.

I boil mine just like I do my traps and I also wax it just like I do my traps. I put the whole roll in just as it comes from the store. Normal detergent used for washing dishes cuts the grease. No rusty wire messing everything up.

Lacquer thinner, one of the best degreasers ever. Put in a bucket and swirl.

Put some expensive clothes by the wire. In short time, the grease will all go to the clothing.
