I have several at auction that didn't sell last year.

Otter market is similar to the beaver market.Large size, good colour(dk) no damage and prime/hvy/sh=good money. The prices drop fast for any outside those parameters.
There is a good market for tanned otters that are of half decent quality.

Pretty sad prices.....hard to get motivated for that.....now 90.00 -100.00 my Traps would find their way out of the shed. With these sad fur prices....just means more ice fishing time.

I usually Sell them to Taxidermists ...or at least call them after getting a fur buyers quote.

Sold my last three otter for $125.00 Each after tanning.
Put-up with all four feet skinned out to the last knuckle and intact.
Tanning by Mark Tubari was $22.00 Each so netted $103.00 per pelt.
Acceptable price for a little extra work, and 6 months awaiting completion of the dressing.

That’s really acceptable. Considering if you would have shipped them, you might have got $22 each on a 6 year wait.

Raw Otter market looks like last year, maybe even a little cheaper on off grades and LM and smaller. Take the suggestions above and tan them for selling to some type of other market for the next couple of years, even this market will become saturated in time.

I have a friend who makes otter hats and slippers for the tourist trade. He actually prefers working with slightly early bluish skins, they produce a little flatter, but glossier fur. Those same skins will most likely be very difficult to sell (for a decent price) on the normal fur markets, but craft and individual users will still pay pretty good prices for them.

Thanks for the input. I sold one tanned to my barber for $100 and a free haircut. He is wanting another one and I told him I would sell it for market price if he wanted to take care of the tanning portion. I was curious what a ballpark figure might be.

It varies.Charge him same as the other one minus the tanning charge,if selling raw.

I've got 4 I might get tanned.
GFW "announced" a 30-40% increase in otter prices this season. It was on their youtube channel in a video they posted like a week ago on market and route info. Whether or not they actually hold to that will be interesting.
