When setting for coyote do you offset the trigger from the hole? If so how far, and does it make a difference to which side??

I set my trigger/pan center with my hole.

I set the pan where I believe the animal will step. Might be offset, might be centered with the hole. Might be 9-10" back, might be tight to the hole/attractor.

Trap goes dead center, pan 9" from hole, spring lever points to the hole

This is how I do it because it's what I do. The 9 inches I'm not really stringent on I just set it wherever it beds best.

No mater where you place the trap the coyote Is going to step someplace else. LOL
It's not so much trap placement as It Is guiding the critters foot to where the trap Is.

Dirtholes I set pretty tight. Flat set is anywhere from 8”-10” back. I don’t worry about the offset.
