Like everything else songwriting - both lyrics and music have patterns, methods, and standard structures. Starting with basic form is a good idea and then working to make it original and unique. Not the prettiest girl in this thread but an honorable mention for Karen Carpenter. I’ve always thought she had one of the prettiest voices of all time. When I was about 8 years old I was up with my dads friend doing gentleman aerobatics in his T-34. He had an 8 track playing this song. Every time I hear this song it takes me back to that moment.
