I thought I had Moby's William on, if you know what I mean. Imagine my disappointment when I finally guided it's head through the hole. BTW, it still swims. Headed to Mille Lacs in the morning, shouldn't have to worry about kitties there.

Won't see many kitties on the big lake but you sure may see some Meesi.

Brown's Lake by Richmond, on the Horseshoe Chain, if you get the urge. Only bite I had in 3 hours.

Cats are one of the best eating fish there is. Breaded and fried up with some hot sauce.

Re: What the??? - 02/02/19 03:32 AM

It's almost too big to skin like a bullhead, roll in flour/egg/cracker crumbs and fry in lard. I wouldn't know how to put it up. Fillet it maybe .

I was thinkin' I'd just drop the whole thing in the turkey fryer and see what happens.

Re: What the??? - 02/02/19 03:10 PM

That’s one of those that you leave the head on gut and drop in a fryer until the skin is crisp and eat the skin like potato chips and then eat the meat the only thing if you want is maybe a little flour salt and pepper on the outside.

Doubt you catch a kitty there. Might not catch a walleye there either though. It's February, walleye fishing is always slower the last week of January into the first two weeks of February. The weather (barometer) plays an ever bigger role this time of year. You will still have action the last hour of daylight if you are on the right spot, but the daytime bite will be slow.

Re: What the??? - 02/03/19 02:34 PM

It's a channel cat. The horseshoe chain has a good population of them, some guys actually go there and fish them on purpose in the winter.

Re: What the??? - 02/03/19 04:44 PM

Around here any good restaurant that has fish that's what's on the menu.us farm raised catfish(channel cat).and about that size too.you yanks should just give it a try lol.roll fillets in corn meal and deep fry till it floats.if u can't eat that than u got something else goin on lol.I love walleye too dnt get me wrong but there ain't nothing wrong with a catfish dinner.I get more excited when I catch a walleye and would prolly choose cooked walley over catfish just cause its a little harder to come by down here but I think catfish has a tad more flavor

Funny, 6 of the 8 and the two biggest walleye I caught yesterday were between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.... Barometer was falling, so that was a positive.
