Pete Rickards Old Indian Buck Lure. Some kids swore by it.

That is the correct spelling. Drop the Pete when you search and you will have better success.

I googled Rickard lures and found listings for his deer lures plus other items.

I am able to get this lure and I seen what it can do. Last season not the past one of deer hunting during the early muzzle loader I had a 8 point buck came running out in front of me and stop dead in its tracks when it smell the lure and that is when I drop him.I do know it works .

They aint the old lures of decades ago.

I had an old fox lure I loved as a kid. Was tar black and came in a squat wide mouth jar. I contacted them and they hadn't the foggiest idea what I was talking about. So I bought every fox lure they had. Nothing close to the same.

I was given a pile of traps back in 1993 by an old guy that lived in the Tug Hill Plateu. Most of the tags on them had Pete Rickard's name, I have always wondered If it was the same guy that made the lure?

What Calvin said... used to use their Red Fox Special paste and the "tar lure" too... they're long gone IMO.

My father and I used to send him our beaver caster in trade for his beaver lure, great stuff. He usually added other things for us as well.

No, it's not

Pete Rickard trapped & lived about 6 miles from my house in Cobleskill, NY
He made his lures there and had a small store there also
Barns and buildings still there....been there many times back in the days
The business was bought out about 10 years ago by a PA company

Oneida Victor traps made a "Pete Rickard model" fox trap for a few years
It was stamped on the pan

The crap they sell at scheels under Pete rickards brand are crap. Bought a beaver lure and it smelled like a weak castor dragged through a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Never got a single response on it at castor mounds in heavy beaver sign section. Scooped up the pies with my spade and remade with backbreaker, wham! Results overnight.
Same with a bottle of fox lure I bought, smelled more like rubbing alcohol and ev weed n the coon wouldn't even touch it.
When I was a kid they were much different and worked well. Good bad for the guys good name and reputation.
