Atttention Montana Trappers. HB 287 amendment!

I just go an update that Representative Bridget Smith (Democrat Wolf Point) is attempting to amend her bill to change the mandatory 24 hour trap check to a mandatory 48 hour trap check. All the arguments we put forth against a mandatory 24 hour check still apply to a mandatory 48 hour check, A mandatory check will create a jurisdiction MT FWP does not have and will allow them to come on private land. It will also give them jurisdiction over all non fur bearing animals including coyotes.
It is time to get the emails and phone calls rolling again. This bill hits the committee floor tomorrow so now is the time to act.
This is a last ditch effort to right a sinking ship. Lets not let that happen!

Alright, I don't know how something can be amended after testimony but will definitely be spending this afternoon contacting Chairman Brown and the representatives.

If they don't allow the amendment what are the chances it will die in committee?

HB287 has been postponed for executive action until next Tuesday, the committee ran out of time.

Been following this, glad to hear things may be looking up. If you give an inch they'll take a mile.
