Badgermans Big Adventure - 02/16/19 10:32 PM

Took this local coyote killer on his first beaver trapping excursion. Weekend warrior style. We both took Friday off work and set a handful of 330s and a few #5s plus a bunch of rat floats.

Walking away from the second to last trap of the day and we heard it go off. Pulled up a whopper!

I can’t find the troll. You never told me trolls live in those things.

We're kind of in the banana belt of the Rocky Mountain states. Go a hundred miles in any direction and you might need snowshoes.

Thanks! Now if there was just someone nearby that was really good at clean skinning we could use a demo. I'm afraid my demo is going to take quite awhile so I figure it’ll take you just 10 hours to get here. I’ll have coffee ready.

Yeah I had to go review ADCs thread on trap diagrams for beginners before we headed out. Felt good to finally set some traps this season.

Way to go, glad you got to set some traps. I have two feet of snow in my yard and the river is froze over, I don't think any open water is in the near future.

That big beaver looks like a contender for the Trapperman Big Tail Contest.

Nice work guys.

Re: Badgermans Big Adventure - 02/18/19 03:35 AM

Pulled the little line this morning and did pretty well. We had a great time and I finally got to handle some fur this season.

Overkill but I think I know why so many 330s were sprung yesterday.

Not a bad weekend considering Badgerman had never trapped beaver and I don't really know what I'm doing.

Showing someone how to clean skin when you aren't very good at it is kind of weird.

Very nice! You need to retire and do it full time.

Re: Badgermans Big Adventure - 02/18/19 04:29 AM

I’m trying to talk my wife into letting me take an early retirement now. If I could do that every day I would.

Re: Badgermans Big Adventure - 02/21/19 03:55 AM

Looks like a much more productive boat ride than the Salmon or Dworshak trips! You guys should think about a new guide!

Glad to see you made it out TB! Hope you were a good friend and tested the mud depth for Badger.

So was there talk of a new beaver dog breed? Looks like target rich country for one!

See you guys at the sale!

Jumper,

I will say that you put a tremendous amount of effort to run one of the most unconventional raccoon lines I’ve ever seen smile

Re: Badgermans Big Adventure - 02/22/19 05:46 AM

Nice work fellas!
I hope the ice goes out here in time to catch some beaver before they are bit up. Had a taxidermist call me who I have trapped for in the past. He wants some beaver for tanning. I haven't trapped a beaver in four years so their should be some pigs swimming around.
