Rebar Drown Rod Post - Plz Help Me Find - 02/20/19 02:47 AM

Hey guys and gals,

Can anyone help me find an old rebar drown rod for beaver post and/or supply me photos of the set-up described below.

10 ft. x 1/2" rebar drown rod
Top end is a loop of flat iron or round rod for staking through
Lock is a Bauer Lock permanently "S"-hooked" or "J"-hooked to trap

The idea is to be able to easily secure or remove the trap by simply sliding the lock on and off over the stake end of the rod.
No lock permanently attached to the drowner itself.

I believe a MN trapper or two posted photos of this system.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Teal

mine have the lock permanently on the rod with a washer or piece of bar on the bottom this helps hold and keeps your rigging on the rod if the beaver pulls it out washer on top to stake or wire to bank use a quick connect to hook to drowner is a piece of angle with bigger hole for the rod but have heard of others using a piece of pipe or square tubing with a piece of strap with a outwards bend so it binds when pulled up

I run a 3/8 rebar for coon in that same configuration just a different style lock. By far the most efficient design I have found. It makes it so nice not having to screw around with pliers and j hooks at every set. Slide the lock over the rod, stab it in the bottom, kick in the top stake, set trap and go.

Here is the link from where I got the design I use. 2poor Drowning rod
