Got 6 buckets at the in-laws. First year doing it. Hoping for 15 gallons or so to just make a quart for the family. We've only got reds so we have a bit of boiling ahead of us.

I'm ready, our weather sure ain't. Snow is butt deep on a tall Indian (no offence intended) and after the weekend snow and sleet
the forecast for next week is lows around zero and highs in the low teens all week.
If you see that groundhog guy that hangs out there in PA give him my regards...… with a 22-250.

I got out about 30 taps (~12 trees) so far. Might put out a few more this weekend (need more taps and buckets). I am also putting together a reverse osmosis system this year. Should take the boiling time down to a 1/4 of what we have done in the past. If it goes like it has in the past it will be slow to start and then I will be running trying to keep up with the buckets.

The tornado killed all of my trees, so I will probably not be running this year. I bet there is 500 cords laying on the ground.

I got lazy at the end of last spring just rinsed some things. So got some lines need better cleaning might actually do that today. Like Zim said weather here isn't the greatest right now.. I may tap the one tree in my yard see what happens. It usually runs about a week sooner than the ones at my other property 60 miles north. I haven't been there since December and will have to for sure move some snow before I can even drive in. Road plow has at least 4ft or higher bank at end of drive even 4 wheel and chains ain't going to get me threw.
Going to be what it's going to be for me?

I only put 7 taps out so far. Boiled down two quarts of syrup last weekend, Sap ran good yesterday and collected again a couple hours ago. May put out a few more this afternoon. should be a good run over the next few days.

Looking at the 10 day forecast there Isn't going to be a run around here till maybe the first week In March and that might be pushing It. Time will tell.

I got 10 gallons of syrup In the basement so I'm not In any big hurry.

We always tapped on Presidents day, my father in law , my brothers, sisters, kids was a good time. When it ran the kids would run to the buckets, we would make sugar and they would fill their pockets, we would boil hot dogs in the sap, usually made about 80 to 100 gallons. Some years it was crazy as we always went after beaver this time of year, never had to look around for something to do!

Well I got 70 gallons today. Not as much as I thought was gonna flow. Looks like a good day coming tomorrow. I got about 120 taps out. Need a good day tomorrow to fire up the evaporator.

Barrels and tubs out in one woods with buckets by the trees. 9 more wood lots to go, only one more 100 plus tree spot though. Man , no snow. We are barely getting our 6-wheeler through and with a cold week forecast we are 10 days or so from tapping any trees.

Yeah Bryce, after the wonderful ice-snow this weekend it's supposed to be below zero for the next 4 nights with highs in the low teens.
I don't see a run here til mid-March.
