Interesting!

We had a scratcher back in the 60s, but had it mounted right on the transom. This is an interesting setup.

Gauntlets? I don't remember if I used 'em back then or not.

Thanks! I'll add it to my list and put on Trappers Report Self-Publishing News Site.

Here's one back at you: https://www.trappersreport.com/story/Recommended-by-Meat-Trapper-Tim

The book I think if you get an Audible.com account trial you can get it free. Listening this weekend I think. The only Patreon I pay for (https://www.patreon.com/meattrapper/posts). Don't know if this came from that or not (from his podcast, not sure which feed I took it from) but it's public knowledge so I think I can ethically post it no problem.

Lot of memories come back in that film. Boat landings of V-bows and jon boats pulled up and the biggest motor might have been a 25 horse among the group. High water at the landing, typical of the Mississippi. And this film was shot just two years after the big flood.

You younger fellas have it made with all the access to videos, books, and trapper ed classes you have today. These boys in the film probably learned it on their own, or did it the way Dad did.

Towards the end there, correct me if I'm wrong, but looks to me like he's just upstream of the roller gates which appear to be up and river running wild. Fella with the camera praying the motor wouldn't run out of gas I'd wager.
